In a description on the MeeGo Community official website, ImadSousou, head of Intel's open-source technology center, announced that the MeeGo source code and installable images are now available for download. The platform itself needs to be improved and further developed. The purpose of this release is to allow third-party developers to participate in the project.

According to Sousou, these initial codes include key parts of the kernel and operating system infrastructure, such as the system correspondence library and communication framework. The installable image has several characteristics: A N900 smart phone for Nokia and a netbook for atomic processors. These do not include the Meego development user interface layer or standard application stack, which means they are not suitable for common users. A more complete version is expected to be released in May.

MeeGoLinux platform was released in May, when Intel and Nokia announced plans to combine their respective Linux-based mobile operating systems, Moblin and Maemo. The company hopes to reduce fragmentation, promote cooperation, and develop MeeGo into an industry-standard mobile Linux platform that provides support for various shape coefficients and processor systems. Intel and Nokia have partnered with the Linux Foundation to expand the scope of the system and maintain vendor neutrality.

There are several key factors that distinguish Meego development from Android and other competing platforms. One of them is that it is more closely integrated with the upper Linux kernel and the desktop stack. Another important difference is that it will adopt a participatory development model. The code will be developed in the public resource library. Therefore, prior to the first release of the product, both the code owner and the code owner will be involved in the early stages of development.
