Android programs must be running on Android, so Android development must be ready for the relevant operating environment, i.e. Android virtual device (Android emulator).

I. AVD Manager Portal

Go to the Eclipse directory below the extract package of the ADT Bundle Toolkit, and double-click the "Eclipse.exe" file to open the Eclipse Development IDE tool, such as:

Eclipse is often used during the development process, and each time it is opened, it enters several levels of directories. There is a way to create a Eclipse.exe as a desktop shortcut, select the "Eclipse.exe" right-click, select "Send to", and then select "Desktop Shortcut", you can appear on the computer desktop an Eclipse icon, You can then double-click to open the Eclipse tool directly.

Where Workspace is the Eclipse workspace, primarily used to store the current eclipse configuration and code, typically designated as our own separate folder directory, can be "Browse" to switch paths.

For the bottom left corner, the "Use this as the default and does not ask again" is checked, depending on the individual circumstances. When checked, each time you open the Eclipse development tool, the default workspace is the specified folder, and if unchecked, the program will pop up every time you start eclipse.

After opening the Eclipse development tool, this displayed page will accompany all of our development time and you are no longer alone. As shown in the following:

The specific use of this page is gradually approached in subsequent learning. The robot icon in the upper-left corner is the SDK Manager portal we opened earlier, and the phone icon is the AVD Manager Portal We're about to use.

When you click on the phone icon, open the AVD Manager page and know that there are no Android virtual devices, as shown in:

Second, create Android virtual device

In the AVD Manager window, click the "Create" button to open the Android virtual device creation page as shown in:

Next, set up the parameters for the simulator, respectively:

1. AVD Name: The name of the custom simulator, the recommended naming principle;

2, Device: Select the screen resolution;

3, Target: Select the Android operating system version;

4, Cpu/abi: Select CPU architecture. If the Intel Series simulator is not available, use the ARM emulator instead, and the arm simulator has a slow disadvantage. Only x86 supports hardware acceleration, which can be accelerated by the emulator.

5, Keyboard: Check can use their own computer keyboard as the simulator keyboard, uncheck the words by default using the simulator keyboard;

6, Skin: Simulator of the skins, if the selection of no skin indicates that only the phone screen display;

7, Front Camera: Select the front camera device;

8, Back Camera: Select the rear camera device;

9, Memory Options:ram on behalf of the simulator running RAM, VM heap Dalvik the virtual machine stack memory size;

10, Internal Storage: Simulator built-in storage size;

11, SD Card Size: Set the size of the sdcard.

After setting up,

After clicking "OK" to save the settings, go back to the AVD Manager page and see the virtual device you just created:

Third, start the Android virtual device

Select the Android virtual device that you created on the AVD Manager page, and the action button on the right becomes operational, as shown in:

After we have created the simulator, if you need to modify then you can select the virtual machine to modify in the diagram, then click the "Edit" button, if you need to delete, click the "Delete" button.

Click on the "Start" button to enter the Android emulator launch Settings page as shown:

There are two more important options in the interface. Scale display to real size and wipe user data.

The latter is well understood, and if checked, then the startup is equivalent to restoring the factory settings.

The former used more, is used to scale our simulator interface, if not checked the screen will show the true size of the simulator, will definitely occupy our entire screen, so you can choose to tick, and then change the screensize to 6 (can be adjusted according to their own liking) is a more suitable size.

Click on the "Launch" button to start the Simulator launch page:

If the emulator has some error prompts during startup, then it needs to be prompted to optimize the configuration of our simulator. If it starts up normally you can see the simulator on the page as shown:

Iv. use of Android virtual devices

After a long wait, go to the Android emulator page, which is exactly the same as the mobile page you are using, and this does not require any additional explanation, as shown in:

The only difference is the right side of a few buttons, the mouse moved to the corresponding button, there will be a corresponding prompt function.

V. Simulator acceleration

Simulator start-up process is more time-consuming, can only endure a bit first. After entering the formal study of Android, we will teach you to use third-party simulators, such as Genymotion.

If the selected CPU is x86, you can use emulator acceleration, which requires a separate installation. The specific installation files are in the Extras folder under the SDK root directory, and of course, if you want to download the configuration Extras folder. Bolted all the way until you see "Intelhaxm-android.exe":

Double-click to enter the accelerator installation process, all the way "next" until "Install", to the final completion.

Restarting the Android virtual appliance again will find that the boot process is significantly faster.
