Ubuntu set static IP

1. Configuring a static IP address

$sudo vi/etc/network/interfaces

The original content only has the following two lines:

Auto Lo

Iface Lo inet Loopback

Append the following to the end:

Auto Eth0

Iface eth0 inet static

Address 192.168.0.33

Gateway 192.168.0.1

Netmask 255.255.255.0

Network 192.168.0.0

Broadcast 192.168.0.255

then save the exit;

2. Configure DNS Manually

$sudo vi/etc/resolv.conf

Add the following to the end:

NameServer 192.168.0.10

Then save the exit.

3. Restart the network for changes to take effect

$sudo Ipdown eth0

$sudo IPuP eth0

$ifconfig
