First, look at the version of the VirtualBox that has been installed at the terminal:
$ dpkg-l
To view the version number, for example, my: virtualbox-4.1
To perform an uninstallation:
$ sudo apt-get remove virtualbox-4.2

After that, go to the official website to download the latest version.

After downloading the latest version, open it with Ubuntu Software Center and install it
