Because the data can only be exchanged between ports within the same VLAN, the ports of different VLANs cannot be accessed directly, so the VLAN can access the server resources according to the restriction of individual hosts, so the security of the network can be improved by dividing the VLAN.

3. Simplifying Network management

Because VLANs can be divided according to different environments, you can divide different geographical hosts into the same VLAN without the need to move physical devices, so using VLAN technology can greatly reduce the workload of administrators.

Types of VLANs

1. Static VLAN

The static VLAN, also known as the port based VLAN, is the most common VLAN implementation method at present. A static VLAN needs to explicitly specify which VLAN the port of the switch belongs to.

2, Dynamic VLAN

There are many ways to implement dynamic VLAN, and the most common method is the dynamic VLAN based on MAC address. The dynamic VLAN based on MAC address is automatically assigned to the appropriate VLAN based on the MAC address of the host.
