I wrote this article in a hurry. If you have any omissions, please forgive me. Also, this tutorial is just for beginners. It is as easy as possible to understand. Old birds, please do not BS me ......

Most of us use virtual machines to learn about linux and don't want to install dual systems. If you belong to this kind of person, this article will be very suitable for you ~
There are several ways to enable virtual machines to access the Internet, but here we are teaching the most practical and practical way. Likewise, there are many ways to transfer files between two systems, it is similar to setting up FTP, USB flash disks, and LAN sharing, but here we teach you the safest and quickest way.

This article assumes that we deploy the VM in this way. The OS of the host machine is XP, And the OS of the virtual machine is Linux. Let's explore it in other environments. VMware Workstation 6.5.1 and green are installed here.

1. Enable Linux to access the Internet:

1) If you have installed the full version of VMware Workstation 6.5.1, you should have a new virtual Network card "VMware Network Adapter VMnet8" in XP ", this Nic is enabled by default and connects the VM to the NIC of the host. Check your "network connection". If this is enabled, you do not need to look at Step 2.

2) If you are installing the green version, OK, you should not have this nic at first, then we run the "server. bat "(or" service. "bat"), followed by the process. It's okay to follow the instructions.

Select 2 and a new NIC will be installed. (If an unknown driver warning is displayed, click Continue. The system will not be unstable ......) Then return to the initial interface.

Select the two

OK. Now you can install your Vm with peace of mind ~ Now it can access the Internet normally.

3) Note that the configuration option of the virtual machine's Nic should be "NAT.

2. file sharing between the host machine and virtual machine:

You may need to install the corresponding VMware Tools before using this method. If you do not install VMware Tools, you can reply to me below. I will go to an installation tutorial. I have not tested whether to install VMware Tools. You can try it first.

Now, let's take a step by step.

Step 2 is to select a shared folder where you want to share files between the two systems. You can select any folder.
Then you can see the contents of the shared folder in the path on the Linux server.

Now you can freely put the files in this folder that you want to access from the two systems ~
