Dave Gray is the founder and CEO of xplane, the top visual thinking company in the United States, and one of the initiators of vizthink, the most influential visual thinking conference in North America and Europe. Many people asked Dave to recommend books. He made this list about visual thinking, visual learning, brain, and business. Dave gave a brief comment on each book, so we can understand why he thinks this book is important. This is an incomplete book order. He will try to add new books to it.
Xun Zi's "Persuasion" said, "I try to think about it all day long. It is better to learn it than to learn it. I hope it is better to gain a high reputation ." (I used to think about it for a whole day, but it was better to learn from others for a while. I used to look at it with great help, but it was too far away from the wide spectrum I saw when I got up .) Visual Thinking uses plotting to solve problems, think about complicated problems, and communicate more and more people are interested. So how can we improve our visual thinking capabilities? In addition to a large number of usage and exercises, it is very important to find good resources to learn.
We learned from visual thinking masters, such as davegray and David Sibbet (another D, David sibert, founder of Grove, visual guidance consultancy, and one of the pioneers in graphic image guidance ), it can shorten the exploration time. Now that the network is developed, many good resources can be found in their blogs. In addition, the good books they recommend in this field are as open as the mountain rises. I found that a good book often introduces a new framework of thinking. Without those frameworks, we only crawl at a low level. When we borrow a new thinking framework from the book, We can help ourselves fly and see a wider world through visual thinking. Visual Thinking is like flying.
Below is the book list recommended by Dave Gray. I have added a few comments after each book. If I find that this book has a Chinese version, I will use the Chinese cover.
Advanced presentations by design: Creating communication that drives action
By Andrew Abela (P & G manager, McKinsey consultant, university professor)
DaveComments:Andrew Abela has carefully investigated the research involved in demonstration design and has made the best of it in this good-looking book. Every principle he described was supported by scientific research, and he gave great suggestions. I think this book is the best if I use the principles of scientific research in demonstration design.
Xiankai commented: this should be the upcoming book "How the persuasive speech is made-how to design the PPT of the deal on the spot" by the Electronic Industry Publishing House. Author Andrew Abela, former P & G manager and McKinsey consultant, is now a university professor and his blog: extremepresentation.typepad.com
