I. Initial Sequence of router startup
When a vro is initialized, The vro performs the following operations:

1) perform power-on self-check from ROM to detect basic operations of CPU, memory, and interface circuit.

2) boot from the ROM and install and download the operating system to the primary storage.

3) when the boot operating system is pre-determined by the configuration register boot by FLASH or network download, the boot system command of the configuration file determines its exact location.

4) the operating system downloads the package to the low-address memory. After the download, the operating system determines the working hardware and software of the router and displays the result on the screen.
5) the configuration files stored in NVRAM are loaded to the main memory and executed. The configuration starts the routing process and provides the interface address and setting media features. If a valid configuration file is set in NVRAM, the Setup session mode is enabled.
6) then enter the system configuration session to display the configuration information, such as the configuration information of each interface.
Ii. Setup session
When there is no valid configuration file in NVRAM, The vro automatically enters the Setup session mode. You can also enter Setup in the command line for configuration.
The Setup command is an interactive command. Each question has a default configuration. If you use the default configuration, press Enter. If the system has already been configured, the current configuration value is displayed. If this is the first configuration, the factory settings are displayed. When the screen displays "------ More ------", type the Space key to continue; exit from Setup, just type Ctrl-C.

1. Main Parameters of Setup:
Configure its general parameters, including:
Host Name: hostname
Privileged password: enable password

Set the secret and password of the Console:
Enable secret
Enable password
Set the password of Virtual Terminor:
Line vty

2. Setup interface parameters:

Set interface parameters, such as Ethernet port, TokenRing port, synchronous port, and asynchronous port. Including IP addresses, subnet shielding, and TokengRing rates.
3. Setup description:
After setting the above parameters, the command prompts whether to use the above configuration. If the answer is "YES", the system will store the above configuration parameters, and the system will

Yes.
4. Setup commands:
Show config
Write memory
Write erase

5. Recovery of vro lost PASSWORD
The following methods can be restored:
Enable secret password (suitable for 10. 32) or updated version)
Enable password
Console password
Modify Configuration Register (Factory: 0x2102) so that the vro ignores the PASSWORD, so that you can enter the vro, you can

Enable password and Console password are displayed, but enable secret password is encrypted and can only be replaced. Tion

The value of Register is 0x142.
Running password recovery may cause the system to be DOWN for an hour and a half;
Connect the Console terinal to the Console port of the vro, and confirm that the terminal is set to 9600bps, 8 Data bit, No parity, and 1 stop.

Use password cisco to enter a privileged user.
Iii. router configuration
1) router Mode
In a Cisco router, the command interpreter is called EXEC. EXEC refers to the command you type and performs the corresponding operation. You must log on to the router before entering the EXEC command. For security reasons, EXEC sets two access permissions: user-level and privileged-level. user-level executable commands are a subset of privileged-level commands.
At the privileged level, you can use commands such as configuration, interface, subinterface, line, router, and router-map.
2) Configuration Mode
Use the Config command to enter the configuration mode. After entering this mode, EXEC prompts you to use the following configuration methods: terminal, NVRAM, and network. The default mode is terminal mode.
3) IP routing protocol Mode
In configuration mode, enter the Router command to enter the IP address routing protocol mode. Optional routing protocols include bgp, egp, igrp, VPN, rip, and other dynamic routing and static routing.
4) Interface Configuration Mode

You can set many features on each port. interface configuration commands can be used to modify Ethernet, ring-based network, FDDI, synchronous, asynchronous ports, and other operations.
5) password configuration
You can use a password to restrict access to the vro. The password can be set to a specific line or the Privileged EXEC mode.
Line console 0 command set console terminal Password
Line vty 0 command to set the Telnet virtual terminal Password
Enable-password command to set the Privileged EXEC access permission
6) vro name
Use hostname in configuration mode, for example, hostname roupid
Iv. user help prompt
1. type at the user prompt? Common commands can be listed. The following commands are usually used:
Connect opens a middle-end connection
Disconnect closes an existing telnet session
Enable entry to privileged level
Exit to exit EXEC
Help interactive help System Description
Lock terminal lock
Login logs in as a specific user
Log out of EXEC

Ping to send echo information
Resume resumes an activated telnet connection.
Show Displays running system information
Running at: displays running system information.
Telnet to open a telnet connection
Set terminal line parameters
Where lists the activated telnet connections
2. Help
