"Where did the genius come from?" The ordinary and the Great in practice

This is one of the most exciting and wonderful books I've found to be the source of all the great achievements.

What makes one of those so-called geniuses? Deliberate practice! The great achievement is not because of the so-called innate genes, nor the so-called simple drudgery. But it takes a long time to deliberately improve the ability of a certain aspect of the arduous training! This is basically consistent with the "10,000-hour law" or the "ten-year Law".

Tiger Woods may only face two or three bunkers in a season, and if he only had the chance to play bunker shots, he wouldn't have been able to hit such a beautiful ball. In fact, he did a lot of boring, targeted training in order to play such a beautiful bunker ball.

In order to improve his writing ability, Benjamin Franklin first found a few clearly better than his articles, such as "Spectator" spectator, in each sentence to write down the short notes, a few days later he took out what notes, try to express each sentence in their own words. After writing it, compare it with the original article, find some mistakes, and then correct them. When he noticed that one of the problems was his vocabulary, he rewrote some of the articles of the Spectator in a poetic way, then rewrote the poem into prose as he forgot them, and finally compared his writing to the original.

Franklin created his own teacher by finding articles that were much better than he had written. This is very much in line with the basic core of deliberate practice. He did not sit there, endlessly writing articles to make himself a good writer. On the contrary, like a top athlete or musician, he is trained to improve himself by repeating his weaknesses.

Another feature of Franklin's improved writing is his diligence. Theoretically, everyone can imitate his method, and the effect is very good. But no one is doing it, and even the students who are practicing writing do not. Franklin was not a student at the time, he was an apprentice in his brother's printing shop, and his heavy work made him almost free of time. He began to practise writing before work in the morning, and he continued to practise after work, and in Sunday he continued practicing when no one was in the printing shop. As a puritan, he knew that Sunday should go to church, but he thought there was no time, so he didn't go there.

Few people do well, and most people don't do it at all, and the sooner you start, the better.

Multiplier effect: In some areas a small advantage can ignite a series of time occurrences, creating a huge advantage. -----a bit like snowball, snowball will grow bigger, but if there is no initial snow regiment, there will never be a subsequent snow ball.
