Samsung launched its flagship mobile phone Galaxy S4, and HTC also launched its flagship mobile phone HTC One. The sales volume of Galaxy S4 reached 10 million in a month, while HTC One was listed for more than a month, only 5 million units are sold. HTC One can beat Galaxy S4 in many ways, but why can't it sell Galaxy S4?

In my opinion, there are two main reasons:

1. HTC One has insufficient supply at the early stage. This factor affects HTC One's sales, but not the deciding factor. The real key lies in the second point.

2. The screen display ratio of HTC One is much lower than that of Galaxy S4.
So what is screen display ratio? Screen Display ratio is a word I invented. It is used to describe this phenomenon: the proportion of the effective display area of the screen to the front area of the fuselage. That is:

Screen Display ratio = valid display area of the screen/Front Area of the fuselage x 100%

Screen Display ratio reflects the utilization of the front of the fuselage. The higher the screen display ratio, the higher the utilization rate on the front of the fuselage. In the context of effectively controlling the body size (the size of the human hand is limited), the higher the screen display ratio, the larger the display.

According to my measurements and calculations, the screen display ratio of HTC One is about 71.6%, while that of Galaxy S4 is about 82.2%. That's why HTC One cannot beat Galaxy S4. Otherwise, the metal shell of HTC One can be used as a plastic shell of Galaxy S4.
