Wireless Network Security Issues

Security first. Security in all aspects, whether personal or property, is the top priority. Wireless Network security is of course a top priority. For wireless network security, it is like a tongue that can be chewed out. We hope you can repeat the following 10 points to make our wireless network security "0" vulnerability.

1. Change the default administrator password and user name)

In the access points or routers of most Wi-Fi wireless home networks at the core. Set the webpage provided by the device manufacturer to allow the owner to access its network address and Logon account information. These Web tools have a logon user name and password, so that only valid owners can log on. However, the password provided by the manufacturer is a simple password, which is believed to be broken by common hackers. Therefore, the first thing is to modify the password and User Name of the default Administrator.

2. Enable compatible WPA/WEP Encryption

All Wi-Fi devices support encryption in some forms. For example, emails sent by encryption technology are messy, which prevents emails from being easily read. Today, several encryption technologies have Wi-Fi. Of course, you will want to select the most powerful encryption mode to protect your wireless network. However, in these encryption technologies, All Wi-Fi devices must share the same encryption settings. Therefore, you may need to find a "minimum common demoninator" to set it.

3. Change the default SSID

Both the Access Point and the router use a network product called the SSID. Ship manufacturers usually use the same SSID to set their products. For example, the SSID of a Linksys device is usually "Linksys ." Indeed, the wireless routers or APS launched by the same manufacturer use the same SSID. Once attackers attempt to connect to the wireless network using a common initialization string, it is easy to establish an illegal connection, which poses a threat to our wireless network. Therefore, it is recommended that you name the SSID with some personalized names and change the default configuration of the SSID to protect the security of the wireless network on the network.

4. Enable MAC address filtering

Each Wi-Fi device has a unique identifier, called a physical address or a MAC address. All devices saved by the Access Point and vro are connected to the tracks of their MAC addresses. Many such products provide the option to the owner and the MAC address of the device in their home, which limits the network and only allows Internet access from these devices. This allows hackers and their software programs to easily forge MAC addresses. Therefore, it is best to enable MAC primary filter.

5. Disable SSID Broadcast

In a Wi-Fi network, wireless access points or routers generally broadcast the regular network name SSID through air ). This feature is designed for Wi-Fi clients in the business and mobile hotspot domains, reminding them that they may be out of scope to start roaming. At home, this is an unnecessary roaming function, and the possibility of adding SSID broadcast will be someone trying to log on to your home network. Fortunately, most Wi-Fi access points allow SSID broadcast, but can be disabled by the network administrator.

6. do not automatically connect to an open Wi-Fi network

Connecting to an open Wi-Fi free wireless hotspot or your neighbor's wireless network router will increase your computer's security risks. Although it is not usually enabled, most computers have a setting that allows automatic connections and does not notify you, so this setting should not be enabled except for temporary situations.

7. static IP address assigned to the device

Most home networks tend to use dynamic IP addresses. DHCP technology is indeed very easy to establish dynamic IP addresses, but unfortunately, it is also convenient for network hackers to attack, and anyone can easily obtain valid IP addresses in your network DHCP. You should enable the vro or access point to disable DHCP, set a fixed IP address range, and configure each connected device to match. Use a private IP address range such as 10.0.0.x to prevent others from obtaining your IP address on the Internet.

8. Enable vro firewall on each computer

Modern network routers have built-in firewall functions, but they are also disabled. To provide additional protection, make sure that the personal firewall software installed and running on each computer connected to the router is enabled.

9. Select a wireless network security access point for the position router.

Wi-Fi signals generally transmit data through radio waves, and data transmission has an effective range. When your device is far beyond your home, it is easy for others to discover and use it. Wi-Fi signals are often exposed to neighboring houses and streets, for example. When a wireless home network is installed, the status of the Access Point or router determines its range. Therefore, try to place the device in the center of the home instead of close to the window to reduce leakage.

10. Disable the network for a short time.

In all circumstances, the most effective wireless network security policy is to physically close the wireless network, so that no hacker can start. Therefore, it is recommended that you directly switch off the power supply of the Wireless Access Point without using the wireless network.
