An anthropological survey of user research methods
I. Definition of anthropological studies
Anthropological research-This is a special method of observation that allows researchers to gain a deep understanding of how people live and work by using some of the concepts and tools in anthropology and other social science fields. The purpose of this approach is to explore the consumer's life in order to uncover the unspeakable needs of consumers who are not clearly represented by other research methods.
Ii. advantages and disadvantages of anthropological investigation
Advantages:
- Completeness of demand acquisition: Specially trained anthropologists personally enter the target audience and obtain first-hand research data with integrity through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and residential experiences. This approach is more effective than just conducting questionnaires and in-depth interviews to get the demand.
- The objectivity of demand acquisition: integrating oneself into the target user community, can always take into account the user's emotional changes, but also for the necessary needs and ancillary needs have a more profound and accurate understanding.
- The comprehensiveness of demand acquisition: by living with the user, in addition to understanding what our project should do, we can also get some new problems we have not considered (such as in the current memo is more of the document record, and in real life we can remember is organized, prioritized, support handwriting will be better).
Disadvantages:
- This method is not applicable when the amount of data to be acquired is large for projects involving long periods of time.
- This can only be a supplementary research method, its target population is limited, can not represent the views of all.
- If the researcher has templated the content form of the anthropological survey, then the research is easy to lack all-round interpretation.
Iii. scope of application of anthropological investigation
Basically all of the projects can be changed to research, such as Chairman Mao said "No research has no voice", as is now the party's construction advocated by the mass line.
Iv. future development trends of anthropological surveys
The anthropological survey will be more and more widely used for commercial purposes, it can help us to further analyze the user's situation of the necessities of the people, more understanding of the user's psychology and needs.
