2nd. Network documentation
First, the network baseline
The simplest way to solve a network problem is to compare the current configuration with the previous configuration.
The baseline document consists of different network and system documents, which include:
? Network Configuration Table
? Network topology diagram
? ES Network Configuration table
? ES network topology diagram
Considerations for creating a network:
1) Determine the scope of the document coverage;
2) Consistency: Collect the same information for all devices in the network;
3) Clear objectives: Understand the purpose of the document;
4) Easy to use and access the document;
5) Maintain updated documentation in a timely manner.
Second, the Network configuration table
The usual goal of the network configuration table is to provide a list of hardware and software used in the network, consisting of:
Grading items
Miscellaneous information device name, device model, CPU type, FLASH, DRAM, interface description, user name password
Layer 1th Media type, rate, duplex mode, connection number, socket, or port
Layer 2nd MAC address, STP status, STP Root bridge, speed port information, VLAN, EtherChannel configuration, encapsulation, relay status, interface type, port security, VTP status, VTP mode
Layer 3rd IP address, IPX address, HSRP address, subnet mask, routing protocol, ACL, tunneling information, loop interface
In most cases, the best way to store this information is in spreadsheets or databases, spreadsheets for smaller networks, and databases for larger networks.
Three, network topology diagram
A network topology diagram is a diagram of how the various components of a network are logically and physically interconnected.
1, network topology diagram of the composition
Grading items
Miscellaneous information device name, device model, Setup connection, interface description
1th layer Media type, connection number
Layer 2nd MAC address, VLAN, encapsulation, relay status, interface type, DLCI
Layer 3rd IP address, subnet mask, routing protocol
For large networks, you can create multiple network topology diagrams, each of which reflects a separate section.
2. Establish network topology diagram
Iv. Discovering Network configuration information
1. Collect router and layer 3rd switch network configuration information
Show version; display device model, Flash, DRAM, iOS
show ip interface brief; Display interface brief information (type, status, protocol status, IP address)
Show interface e0/0; displays an interface details (MAC, IP, MASK 、... )
show IP protocols; Display IP routing protocol information
show ip interface e0/0; Displays IP protocol information for the interface (status, IP address, ACL 、... )
2. Collect switch configuration information
The Switch Network configuration table contains information about device name, model, location, Flash, DRAM, CatOS version, management address, VTP domain, VTP mode, port number, ports rate, port duplex, VLAN, STP status, speed port status, trunk status 、...
Show version; display iOS or CatOS versions, DRAM, Flash
Show VTP domain, (CatOS) display VTP domains and VTP modes
Show VTP status; (IOS)
show interface; (CatOS) Display Management interface information
Show Port (CatOS) displays brief information for each port (number, VLAN, duplex 、... )
show interface; (IOS)
Show Trunk (CatOS) displays relay information (mode, encapsulation, allow port, trim 、... )
Show interface trunk; (IOS)
Show Spantree (CatOS) Displays the STP mode, type, status, and speed port of the port 、... )
Show Spanning-tree; (IOS)
3. Discover information about neighboring Cisco devices
CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) is a proprietary protocol for Cisco that identifies directly adjacent Cisco device information, and CDP works on the 2nd tier.
Show CDP neighbor; Displays brief information about neighboring Cisco devices (ID, neighboring interfaces, platform 、... )
Show CDP neighbor detail; show details of neighboring Cisco devices (including layer 3rd information)
V. The process of creating a Web document
1, login; Log on to the device to enter privileged mode.
2. Interface discovery; Discover the required information about the device
3, document; The information found is recorded in the Network configuration table.
4, Diagram; transfer required information from the Network configuration table to the network topology map
5, equipment discovery; Determine if there are no documents to be recorded by neighboring devices.
