It is important-understand the difference between several authentication types Exchange offers for Outlook ANYW Here

Basic Authentication: If you select this authentication type, Outlook would prompt for username and password while attempting a connection with E Xchange.

NTLM Authentication: If you select the This authentication type, Exchange does is not prompt the users for a user name and password. The current Windows user information on the client computer are supplied by the browser through a cryptographic exchange in Volving hashing with the WEB server. If The authentication exchange initially fails to identify the user, the browser would prompt the user for a Windows user A Ccount user name and password. So, when Outlook was trying to connect to Exchange and if the machine was domain joined, there isn ' t a need to provide PASSW Ord.

Negotiate Authentication: Enabled by default in Exchange 2013. This is a combination of Windows integrated authentication and Kerberos authentication. If we employ negotiate authentication, Exchange would authenticate the client using NTLM authentication type and if unable To verify authenticity, would challenge the client to authenticate using a username and password.

If you are in Outlook settings–> account settings–> more settings–> Connection and you could see the same authenti cation settings.
