Snippets-convenient access to stored text
Thank God, there are some tools in the world that can help us (to do this ).
'Snippets'Is one of the components in Unity. This is a simple startup tool that allows you to save and store the extracted content in a file, and then copy it to the clipboard from a quick list of Unity as needed.
Before someone threw his underpants on my face, I must say that Snippets is not the only tool, and it is not even the first to provide this series of functions. However, it is unique to provide this series of functions through the Unity starter.
This software is good and simple enough to provide the following features:
- Add and access text segments stored in txt files
- View saved text segments in the quick list
- Click the text segment to copy it to the clipboard.
- Provides the option to save the content in the clipboard to a txt file.
Although it is not a "smart" Clipboard management tool-it only lists the items you added specifically; it does not list the history of your recent clipboard project, but it is still a very convenient tool.
How to install Snippets for Unity
To use this beautiful starter project, you must first install a command line clipboard tool XClip. Click the following button (Link) to install from the Software Center.
- Click to install XClip in Ubuntu
Next, download the following 'snippets' compressed file. This includes all the other things needed to use this application.
- Download the 'snippets' Unity starter
After the compressed file is downloaded, You can decompress it. Enter the generated folder and press Ctrl + H to display the hidden files. Move the folder '. snippets-launcher' to your main folder. If you do not do this, the component will not work properly.
The next step is to install the starter project. This is taken care of by a script you just moved to the folder, but it does not have executable permissions (requires installation), so we need to take care of it first.
Open a new terminal window and enter the following command carefully:
cd .snippets-launcher/ && chmod +x snippets.sh./snippets.sh
That's it; Snippets should have been fully installed and ready for release. Open Unity Dash to search for Snippets and drag it to the starter:
- You can add text files of your text segments by clicking the start button.
- Right-click the project on the starter to open the quick list
Options in the quick list:
- Left-click Text Segment to add to clipboard
- Click "date" to copy the current date.
- Click the clipboard content tab to add the content in the front clipboard to the .txt file (Note: The saved text is actually stored in a text file)
- After uploading a project to the. txt file, click "Update starter"
