1. Non-route sharing

1. Shared Internet access

(1) network connection

If you want to add an additional computer to share the Internet with ADSL, You need to purchase two more NICs, one installed on the Internet access computer, the other is installed on the computer to be shared (hereinafter referred to as the client. We recommend that you purchase a 10/100 Mbps white adaptive Nic. It is worth mentioning that if the ADSL modem is an external Ethernet interface, there will be two NICs in the Internet access computer, one for connecting to the modem and the other for connecting to another computer. Of course, a long enough pair of wire power is indispensable. It should be noted that the twisted pair used to directly connect two computers is a cross twisted pair. That is to say, the two ends of the line have different cabling methods, namely, t568a and t568b standard, 1.

It is recommended that you ask the seller to help you with the purchase of twisted pair wires, but you must tell them that they are used for direct connection between two computers. The shared Networking Mode 2 is shown in.

(2) Network Configuration

After connecting the two computers as shown in figure 2, we start the computer to install the driver for the two NICs.Program. When the NIC driver is installed and works properly, the TCP/IP network protocol is automatically added. In the future, if for some reason (such as TCP/IP ~ A. Damaged). When you need to manually add the TCP/IP protocol, you can right-click the "Network Neighbor" icon on the system desktop and select "attribute" in the pop-up shortcut menu ", open the "Network and dial-up interface" dialog box, right-click the corresponding connection item, and select "properties" from the shortcut menu to open the "Connection Properties" dialog box. In this dialog box, click "Install", select "protocol" in the displayed dialog box, and click "add, in the morning, select "TCP/IP protocol" in the "select Network Protocol" dialog box, and click "OK". When the two computers work properly, after the network connection is normal. we need to specify IP addresses for the two computers to allow them to access each other.

A. network configuration for accessing the Internet computer
On the Internet Access Computer, open the "Network and dial-up connections" dialog box as described above. Because this computer also has an ADSL connection, there should be two connection items in the dialog box, one for the ADSL connection and the other for the latter-"Local Connection ". However, when we open the "Network and dial-up connections" dialog box, we find that there are two local connections, that is, the connections between the two computers (Figure 3 ).

We need to specify the IP address of the latter-"Local Connection ". However, if we open the "Network and dial-up connections" dialog box, there are two local connections-"local connection 1" and "local connection 2 ", we need to determine which is the real local connection and which is the connection for the ADSL line. There are ten simple discriminant methods, that is, disconnect the ADSL dial-up connection in the tray area in the lower right corner of the juice computing machine screen, and the connection corresponding to it will be dimmed, the remaining green connection projects are actually local connections. Right-click "Local Connection" and select "properties" from the shortcut menu to open the "Local Connection Properties" dialog box. In this dialog box, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click "properties" to bring up the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Attribute" dialog box. In this dialog box, first check "Use the following IP Address", and then enter "192.168.0.1" in the "ip address" column ", enter "255.255.255.0" in the "subnet mask" column ". Then, select "Use the following DNS server address" and enter the DNS server address of your ISP in the "preferred DNS server" Column (if you do not know, you can call the local telecommunications board to ask), 4.

After the preceding steps are completed and confirmed, go back to the system desktop, right-click the "my computer" icon, and select the "Network ID" tab in the displayed "system features" dialog box. On this tab, click "properties" to bring up the "Change ID" dialog box. Here, we need to name the computer and set the "Working Group name" (note that it is not a "Domain Name ").

B. network configuration of the Client
Enter the "Local Connection Properties" dialog box, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", and click "properties" to bring up the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties" dialog box. In this dialog box, we need to set the IP address to the same network segment as the Internet access computer, that is, 192.168.0.x (X is a natural number between 2 and ). In this example, we specify the IP address as "192.168.0.2" and the subnet mask "255.255.255.0 ". Because we use the gateway to share the Internet, that is, we use the Internet access computer as the gateway computer, so the default gateway should fill in the IP address of the Internet Access Computer "192.168.0.1 ", for the preferred DNS server, enter "192.168.0.1 ". After the preceding settings are complete and "OK", return to the system desktop. Then, set "computer name" and "Working Group name" for the client according to the "Network Configuration for accessing the Internet computer" method ". Note: The name of each computer is unique and cannot be the same, but the Working Group must use the same name. The setting is basically complete. We can check whether the name of the other computer is displayed in the "Network Neighbor" of the two computers. If yes, the network is successfully established.

(3) Internet Connection Sharing

The next step is to install a proxy server software or gateway software on the computer connected to the Internet to achieve Internet Connection Sharing. The proxy server software has more functions than the proxy server software, but it is difficult to configure. The Gateway Software has weaker functions than the proxy server software, but it is more than enough for small network sharing, the most important thing is that it is easy to configure! We recommend that you use the Gateway Software Sygate. I believe everyone is familiar with it. We will use it when sharing a 56 K modem. Its new version not only supports the sharing of broadband access methods such as ADSL, but also maintains a lightweight and easy-to-configure style, so it is particularly suitable for families, Internet cafes, or small and medium-sized offices. Sygate supports all Windows versions and software download locations www.onlinedown.net/sygate.htm. Download and install the software. It will automatically detect hardware and network configurations. The only thing you need to note is: when the system asks if you want to use and configure DHCP (automatically obtain IP addresses) services, make sure to select "no" because we have configured a fixed IP address for the two computers. After the installation is complete, restart the computer and the Sygate will automatically load. Now, the Internet access computer becomes a gateway computer. When it is connected to the Internet, another computer can access the Internet through it. After the Internet access computer performs an ADSL virtual dial-up connection to access the Internet, Sygate will detect that the Internet connection has been established and automatically starts to share the connection (figure 5 ).

Now the client can access the Internet.

2. multi-host internet sharing

Multi-host sharing means that in addition to Internet access to computers, two or more computers need to share the internet. We still use the previous article "dual-host internet sharing", that is, the idea of proxy server/gateway computer. However, because the total number of computers exceeds two, we cannot directly connect them together with a network cable for mutual communication. Instead, we need the help of a collection line device (HUB or switch.

We need to configure another Nic for each computer, and then purchase a hub or switch as needed. If the total number of computers is less than 8, we recommend that you purchase eight hubs. If the number of computers is large, in addition to Internet sharing, there are other sharing demands (such as organizations and Internet cafes ), we recommend that you purchase 16 or 24 vswitches. We recommend that you purchase well-known domestic brands, which are inexpensive and provide good performance. The network type shared by multiple hosts is shown in Figure 6.

We need to remind you that when using a hub or switch for networking, it uses a straight-through twisted pair wire; that is to say, both ends of the line adopt the t568b method (the twisted pair wires connected to the computer and ADSL Modem are also connected to the through line ).

After the network hardware connection is complete, start the computer to install the NIC Driver and TCP/IP protocol. If it is an Internet cafe, you also need to install IPX/SPX compatible protocol, because it is used for LAN-connected games. The addition of IPX/SPX compatible protocols is the same as that of TCP/IP, and is also in the "Network Properties" dialog box.

When configuring the IP address, we still configure the IP address of the inter-net computer as "192.168.0.1", the subnet mask as "255.255.255.0", and the DNS server address of the ISP.

The IP addresses of each client are extended, namely, "192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3 ......", The subnet mask still uses "255.255.255.0 ". The "Gateway" "DNS server" still fills in the IP address "192.168.0.1" for accessing the Internet computer ".

The same working group name and different computer names are used for naming Internet access computers and clients. For example, a computer whose IP address is "192.168.0.1" is named "A1, and so on.

Click "Network neighbors" on each computer. If other machines are visible, the network is established successfully.

Finally, install the Gateway Software Sygate on the Internet receiver computer to make it a gateway computer. Similarly, we do not use DHCP. When the gateway computer is connected to the Internet, Sygate automatically starts connection sharing.

3. Special neighbor Networking Solution

Many people share an ADSL line in the neighborhood. Although it is "dual-host internet sharing", it has a special feature, that is, after the Internet access computer is disabled (for example, the host is not at home, or when you want to shut down the computer), another user cannot use it. However, this is not an unsolved problem. If you are using a large network interface ADSL modem, you can use the "temporary line replacement" method to solve this problem.

In Figure 2 of the preceding "dual-machine Internet sharing" networking solution, we assume that the Internet access computer is host a, and the neighbor's computer is host B. If server a is disabled, server B cannot access the Internet. However, after a slight change to the connection mode, the problem can be solved.

There are two specific ways to change the form, which is slightly different, but the essence is the same:

Solution 1:

As shown in 1, we have another backup straight-through twisted pair wire between the two machines (note that it must be straight-through twisted pair wires, that is, both ends are t568b connectors ). In this way, when server a needs to be shut down, the user of server a can take the twisted pair wires that were originally connected to the ADSL modem and plug in the standby connected twisted pair wires. Then, the user of server B is notified, and the user of server B also removes the crossover twisted pair wire and inserts it into the connected twisted pair wire. This means that the ADSL modem is directly connected to the B server.

Of course, this method also has some problems. First, every time user a has to notify user B, it is very troublesome. Second, when user a notifies user B, user B may not be at home ...... So we provide the second method.

Solution 2:

Add a shard at the ADSL modem exit. The principle of this Sub-branch is similar to the telephone sub-branch, that is, one port is divided into two ports and connected in parallel. This type of shard can be bought at a company that sells network products in the Computer City. After the splitter is added, two straight-through twisted wires are pulled out, one is connected to server a, and the other is routed to user B without connection. Then, establish a networking connection in the way shown in figure 2, and finally obtain the networking diagram shown in figure 2. In this way, when host a is disabled, user A does not need to notify user B. When a user B connects to the network, he finds that the connection fails and the IP address of server a cannot be pinged. Then, he can confirm that server a is disabled. Then, the B-host user unconnects the original twisted pair wires and plug in the backup direct line to directly connect to the ADSL modem.

This method solves the problems in the first method. However, it is not perfect: User B cannot accurately determine whether server a is shut down and does not use the network for a period of time. When server a is being started or shut down for a short time, user B finds that server a cannot be connected and actively connects to the ADSL Modem. In this case, server a fails to connect to ADSL again. The specific method can be determined based on your actual situation.

After taking the above steps, we have not completely solved the problem. Because B is directly connected to the ADSL modem for calling and dialing, virtual dialing software (such as enternet 300) needs to be installed and the network configuration should be adjusted a little before dialing: in the "Network Properties" dialog box, change the "ip address" and "DNS server" that have been set to "Automatic Acquisition" (or you may need to specify it as another IP address, depending on the modem brand ). These adjustments usually take less than two minutes.

If your ADSL modem adopts a USB interface or a built-in PCI type, you cannot use the "temporary line modification" method to solve the problem. Because B cannot directly contact the ADSL modem. But strictly speaking, there is no way at all. As long as the user of server a permits it, we can solve the problem by means of "remote wakeup and automatic dialing" based on "dual-machine sharing": directly wake up and shut down server a from server B, and enable machine A to automatically dial up to connect to the Internet after power-on, while machine B still accesses the Internet through the gateway computer.

Ii. Route sharing

In non-route sharing, we describe the Connection Sharing Scheme of Non-route in large, USB, and built-in pci adsl modem. They need to use a computer as a proxy server or gateway, and other computers use it to share the internet. When using the route ADSL modem for network connection sharing, because the route ADSL modem itself integrates the dialing function and has a separate IP address, it is equivalent to a gateway computer. Therefore, all computers can share the Internet through the ADSL modem gateway, and no longer need a separate proxy server or gateway computer. This networking method is more convenient and convenient.

If you have only installed ADSL today or want to install ADSL, congratulations, because the current Ethernet ADSL modem has almost all built-in routing functions (but note: only Ethernet ADSL Mo-Dem can have the routing function. USB interface and built-in PCI cannot have the routing function ). However, when the ISP configures the ADSL line for us, it usually does not tell the user how to use the routing function out of some considerations. What's more, it simply warns the user not to use the routing function, this is totally irrational!

Through the routing function, we can easily achieve networking and Internet sharing. Of course, we need to enable the routing function of the ADSL modem in advance and configure it. Next, I will explain how to set up ADSL by using the co-Logistics p642 route ADSL modem as an example. The interface for setting the ADSL modem of other brands is different from that for it, but the items to be set are similar.

1. Route ADSL Modem Network Sharing

(1) network connection

To use a route ADSL modem to share the internet, you need to purchase a separate set line device (HUB or switch), of course, if the ADSL modem itself is integrated with a switch (such as a TP-link TD-8831) you no longer need to buy a wire set device. In addition, we need to configure a network card for each computer, and need several straight-through twisted pair wires. Network Mode 1 is shown in.

(2) configure the routing function

Because the ISP did not enable the routing function when configuring the ADSL modem for us, after the network connection is complete, we also need to modify some configuration of the ADSL Mo-Dem.

The "Telnet" command is used to log on to the "modem" for configuration. Its default factory IP address is 192.168.1.1, The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, And the logon password is 1234. Before setting, we need to set the IP address of a computer in the network to the same IP segment -- 192.168.1.x (X is 2 ~ 254), the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, so that you can log on to the ADSL modem and set it.

The procedure is as follows:

A. Click start line, enter "Telnet 192.168.1. Press" enter "to confirm.

B. in the displayed logon dialog box, enter the initial management password 1234 of the ADSL modem, and press "enter" to enter the SMT (System Management Ter-Minal, System Management Terminal) interface (figure 2 ).

SMT is the configuration tool for Heqin psung ADSL Modem. It is divided into three main parts: "Getting started" for basic Internet access settings; "Advanced Applications" for advanced application settings, "Advanced Management" is the advanced management settings. To set all functions, you only need to select the corresponding menu and enter relevant parameters.

The items we need to set are mainly in "Getting started.

C. Set "Getting Started''
Set general settings. Select "1. General setup" (general settings) to go to the "general settings" Page (Figure 3 ).

The settings here are relatively simple. The above three projects are system name, location, and contact per ~ N's name (Administrator name) can be entered as needed. The key lies in the following section. To enable the routing mode, you must set the Route IP (Route IP protocol) to yes and the route IPX (route IPX protocol) to No, bridge (Bridge Mode) is set to No. After setting the menu, press "enter" to confirm the setting.

Ethernet settings

Select "3. Ethernet setup" (Ethernet settings) to go To the Ethernet settings page (figure 4)

Select "2.tcp/ IP and DHCP setup" in the menu to go to the "TCP/IP and DHCP setup" setting interface. There are many projects set here, and they are all important. You need to set them carefully.

First, let's take a look at the "DHCP" item (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). It can have three kinds of settings: none (none), server (server), and relay (broadcast ). When it is set to server, the DHCP server built in the ADSL modem is activated. You can assign IP addresses, Gateway addresses, and DNS server addresses to clients in the LAN shown in Figure 1. If it is set to none, the built-in DHCP server will be disabled. We need to manually set the IP address of the client in the LAN.

Here, we recommend that you do not use the DHCP function, but manually assign IP addresses in the LAN. Therefore, we select none (figure 5 ).

Next we need to set the TCP/IP parameters.

IP Address: the default private IP address of the ADSL modem. We can modify the IP address here. If you do not want to modify it, keep the default 192.168.1.1.

IP subnet mask (1 p subnet mask ). The ADSL modem automatically calculates the subnet mask based on the specified IP address. For example, if the IP address is 192.168.1.1, The subnet mask is automatically generated as 255.255.255.0. We recommend that you keep the value automatically generated instead of manually modifying it. After setting the menu, press "enter" to confirm the setting.

Set Internet access

In "Getting started", select "4. Internet access setup" to go to the "Internet access settings" Page (figure 6 ). We need to set the following items: ISP's name (1sp name), encapsulation (encapsulation mode), multiplexing (multiplexing), VPI (Virtual Path authentication) and VCI (virtual channel identification) value, service name (Service name)

The above items should be set based on the parameters provided by the ISP. Please call the ISP to ask.

My login and my password are easy to understand. If you are an ADSL dialing user, enter the user name and password provided by the ISP here.

Single User Account (Single User Account), of course, select Yes, it means only one account.

IP address assignment (1 p Address Allocation). If you are an ADSL dialing user, select Dynamic (dynamic). That is to say, public IP addresses are dynamically allocated. If you are an ADSL leased line user, select static and enter the public IP address allocated to you by the ISP in the IP address column below. Because I use the ADSL virtual dialing method and dynamic IP address, I chose dynamic. After setting, press "enter" to confirm the setting.

D. Set remote nodes
Select "11. remote node setup" in the main interface shown in Figure 2 to go to the remote node setup interface. Eight remote nodes can be set here. Now we have only one remote node. Select "1" to go to the node setting page. Here, the setting project is equivalent to the set of the previous items. You can modify the corresponding parameters by referring to the preceding settings.

After setting, press "enter" to confirm the setting. In this case, if the ADSL modem is set correctly, the system will automatically dial up to connect to the Internet.

3. Client Configuration

DHCP is disabled in the configuration of ADSL modem, so we need to manually set the IP address of each computer (client) in the LAN. Note: first, the IP address of the computer in the LAN must be in the same network segment as the ADSL modem, that is, the IP address is 192.168.1, And the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. Second, because ADSL Mo-DEM is now the gateway, When configuring the client, the default gateway address should be the IP address of the ADSL modem, And the DNS server address is the same (figure 7 ).

So far, we have successfully achieved Internet sharing through the ADSL modem routing function. Now the client can access the Internet after it is started, and it feels similar to the leased line, which is very convenient.

3. shared bandwidth Routers

We have described in detail how to use a route-based ADSL modem + Hub (or vswitch) for multi-host sharing. We also know that non-route-based ADSL modem can be shared by proxy servers or gateways. But if you do not have an ADSL modem, you have to use the proxy server or gateway mode? No! There is also a solution: Non-route ADSL modem + Broadband Router.

A Broadband Router is also a shared-access device similar to a vro ADSL Modem. It also has a "routing" function, which can replace the location of the proxy server and become the "Gateway" of the client ". The client accesses the Internet through this "Gateway. In addition, most broadband routers also have four or five vswitches. The client only needs to insert the network cable into the vswitch of the Broadband Router, and then perform simple configuration to access the Internet.

A Broadband Router supports Internet access, such as ADSL, fttb + LAN (optical fiber to the building + LAN to the household), and closed-line broadband (Cable Modem) common 56 Kbps modem dial-up Internet access. However, the sub-ADSL access method only supports the Ethernet ADSL modem.

Next, we are still based on the Windows 2000 platform, taking Asus (Asus) aam6000ev non-route Ethernet ADSL modem and TP-Link (prel) TL-R400 Broadband Router as an example, to explain how a Broadband Router shares ADSL (the configuration page of a Broadband Router varies with other brands, but the configuration and specific settings are almost the same ).

First, make sure that ADSL modem212 works properly, that is, we can use it to access the Internet. Then, we cut off the power of the computer and ADSL modem, connect the TL-R400 Broadband Router in.

It is a shared-access device developed specifically for home users and small offices. It is integrated with Four 10/100 Mbps switches for connecting user computers that require Internet access. The Wan port on the back panel is used to connect network access devices such as ADSL Mo-Dem. Its Networking Mode 2 is shown in.

1. configuration of the Broadband Router

Now, we need to make a simple configuration of the TL-R400 Broadband Router, so that it can replace the computer for automatic dialing.

Like most Ethernet ADSL modem, TL-R400 Broadband Router also has an IP address and uses Web Page Management. You can enter http://xxx.xxx. XXX. XXX' in the address bar of IE browser to enter the management page to set it. TL-R400 factory default IP address is "192.168.123.254'', subnet mask is "255.255.255.0 ". Note that entering "http: // 192.168.123.254" in the address bar of the computer's IE browser cannot access the management page. The principle is simple: the IP address must be in the same CIDR Block for access. Therefore, we must first modify the IP address of the local computer connection.

Enter the "TCP/IP properties" dialog box for "Local Connection" of any computer system in the LAN. In this dialog box, set the IP address to "192.168.123. X" (X is a natural number ranging from 1 to 253) and the gateway to "192.168.123.254 ". After two consecutive "OK" operations, the settings take effect immediately. Now we can enter "http: // 192.168.123.254" in the IE address bar To Go To The TL-R400 Management page.

On the logon page that appears, enter the default password "admin" in the left-side logon box to go to the Management page. On the left-side menu of the Management page, select "primary setup'' (main setting). The dialog box shown in 3 is displayed.

In this dialog box, the default IP address with a TL-R400 and the WAN type are displayed, the default is dynamic IP address ). Click "change" to go To the dialog box shown in Figure 4.

In this dialog box, click "PPP over Ethernet" to change the WAN type to "pppoe" (Point-to-Point Protocol on LAN ), this is because the ADSL dialing protocol is used. Click "save" to go to the next dialog box. Here, we want to fill in the ADSL account and password (that is, the ISP provided to your ADSL user name and password), after the dial-up task is handed over to the TL-R400. After entering the information, save the settings. Not long !! We carefully considered the process of transmitting data from the Internet to the user's computer, from the internet \ ADSL modem \ Broadband Router \ local machine, and we have seen that in order to access the Broadband Router, we must unify the IP address segments of the local connection and the IP address segments of the Broadband Router, the default private IP address of the ADSL modem is "192.168.1.1" (most default factory IP addresses of the ethereum ADSL Modem are "192.168.1.1"), and the subnet mask is "255.255.255.0 '. Obviously, it is not in the same network segment as 192.168.254. X. That is to say, Tl-r400 cannot access the ADSL modem and data cannot be transmitted. Mutual access and data transmission can be achieved only when the IP address segments of the ADSL modem, Broadband Router, and local connection are the same! Therefore, we also need to modify the IP address of the TL-R400, we suggest modifying the IP address to the same network segment as the ADSL modem, such as the example of "192.168.1.2 ", subnet Mask "255.255.255.0'' (figure 5 ).

Finally, click "save" button to save the settings, and click "reboot" button to immediately restart the TL-R400 Broadband Router for the settings to take effect.

2. Client Configuration

When the TL-R400 restarts, a dialog box that displays "system is restarted please reconnect manually" (system restarted, please manually connect) appears asking us to reconnect to the Management page. You cannot access the management page by entering "http: // 192.168.1.2" in the IE address bar, because the IP address segment of TL-r400 has been modified, the IP address of the local connection is not in the same segment. Therefore, we need to reconfigure the client. Enter the "TCP/IP properties" dialog box for "Local Connection". Here, change the IP address to "192.168.1. X" (X to 3 ~ In this example, the subnet mask is still "255.255.255.0 ". Since the TL-R400 replaced the previous gateway computer and itself became a "Gateway", here we set "Gateway" to tl-r400 IP Address "192.168.1.2 ". Because the "Gateway" type is used for sharing, the DNS server of the client should also point to the "Gateway", that is, "192.168.1.2" (figure 6)

3. Broadband Router dial-up connection to the Internet

Now, the private IP addresses of ADSI modem, Broadband Router, and local connection are all in the same CIDR block, and data transmission can be realized.

Enter "http: // 192.168.1.2" in the IE Address Bar and press Enter. Then enter the management password to enter the TL-R400 Management page and click "Connect" in the lower right corner to initiate a dial-up connection. Wait about five seconds until the connection succeeds, and the TL-R400 displays information such as the Public IP address, the DNS server address of the ISP, and so on (figure 7 ).

Now the client can access the Internet. Open IE and enter the URL -- go !!

To access the internet in the future, you only need to turn on the power of ADSL Mo-Dem and TL-r400, And the TL-r400 will be automatically connected to the Internet by dialing. After logging on to the computer, you can directly access the Internet without any additional operations. If you don't want to access the Internet, turn off the power of the TL-R400.

TL-R400 supports 4 computers to share the Internet, if more than 4 computers, you can add a hub (or switch), Networking Mode 8.
