To prevent this problem, make sure that the Exchange 2000 computer has high bandwidth access based on the Windows 2000 Domain Controller or Global Catalog server, and then verify that the existing domain controller or Global Catalog server is running and functional.
In addition, if Exchange 2000 SP 2 is installed or later, modify the default topology detection timeout registry value settings. This registry value is not available by default. If this registry value does not exist, Exchange 2000 uses the value 0 x 3C decimal (60) seconds.
Modify the default topology check Registry Value: 1. Start Registry Editor (regedt 32. EXE ).
2. Locate and click the following items in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/system/CurrentControlSet/services/msexchangedsaccess
3. Click Add Value in the edit menu, and then add the following registry values:
Value Name: topocreatetimeoutsecs
Data Type: Reg _ DWORD
Base: decimal
Value Data: 600
4. Exit the Registry Editor.
The value is set to 600 seconds as the starting setting, but if you want to downgrade this setting. This new registry value does not indicate that the Exchange 2000 Service (depending on dsaccess) takes 10 minutes to start. This value indicates that dsaccess has 10 minutes to discover the topology.
