Canonical launched a $32 million Ubuntu Edge smart phone funding manufacturing project on the Volkswagen financing platform indiegogo.
Ubuntu Edge is only limited to 40 thousand units, of which the One-day version is priced at $600 (sold only), and the later version price is increased to $810.
One reason for the high price is that it is super luxurious: 4 GB memory, 4.5 inch GB storage space, 1280x720 HD display, the fastest multi-core processor, 8 million pixel low-light rear camera, 2 million pixel front camera, silicon anode lithium-ion battery, support for Ubuntu phone OS and Android Dual Boot. Canonical plans to begin delivery of Ubuntu Edge in May 2014.
At present, the project has raised funds to 3.2 million, that is, a tenth of the goal has been achieved.
