1. Information is bit + Context

 1. All information in the system, including disk files, stored programs, user data stored in the memory, and data transmitted over the network, are represented in a series of bits.

The only way to distinguish different data objects is to read the context of the information. For example, in different contexts, the same byte sequence may indicate

An integer, a floating point number, a machine instruction, and a character.

2. The program is translated into different formats by other programs.
