Cloud computing is mainly through the network, it is delivered in an abstract way to the customer, for the IT-based service delivery model to bring great changes, the unique advantages of cloud computing: large-scale resource pooling, resource resilience, on-demand, automated deployment, high reliability, high operational efficiency and high transparency of technology and it.

Cloud computing platforms are implemented in two ways: virtualized cloud and application/server-based cloud

Cloud computing system can be divided into private cloud, public cloud, community cloud, hybrid cloud according to deployment method.

First, consider the typical architecture of a typical cloud computing system:

Cloud computing systems typically have the following characteristics:

    1. Core switches are typically built with high-performance data center-level switches that support virtualization technology and provide access to the Internet, internal networks, and external private networks. Provides access to servers such as x86 servers, small machines, and more through converged switches (virtualization-enabled).
    2. Internet-related, can provide VPN access, outgoing access, and public access to the cloud.
    3. With the internal network, it is possible to provide internal user access to the cloud, as well as to interact with other internal systems for information.
    4. Have a large number of blade servers, and through the virtualization software, to achieve the abstraction and pooling of computing resources.
    5. Has a SAN (Storage area Network), NAS (network attached Storage) storage System. Has a separate storage network.
    6. With an independent integrated management platform, to achieve the operation of the cloud management.
    7. With out-of-band network management system, to achieve the entire cloud operation and maintenance.

Then look at the logical structure of the cloud computing system:

Cloud computing systems typically include three levels of two platforms: infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), cloud Software as a service (SaaS), cloud management platform, and operations management platform. A brief description is as follows:

    • Infrastructure as a service layer (IaaS): includes a variety of servers, storage, network devices, links and other physical resources, as well as virtualization management procedures and external services to provide the interface. Virtual hosting services can be provided externally based on this tier.
    • Platform as a service layer (PaaS): includes a variety of systems, platforms, application software, can provide application software development, testing, deployment and operational environment.
    • Software as a service (SaaS): includes a range of application software, as well as interactive display programs that are available to customers/users. The appropriate application services can be delivered to the user over the network.
    • Cloud Management platform: Responsible for the operation of cloud computing services, and the cloud computing resource pool system and its various resources to centralized management, the main functions include cloud service, user management, pricing management and other functions. Generally, the Cloud management platform provides resource management instructions through the resource management interface with the resource pool system, and through the network management interface to the operation and maintenance platform (NMS) to provide management and monitoring information of various types of equipment in the resource pool system.
    • Operations Management Platform: the implementation of virtual equipment, systems, network technology maintenance and management, including capacity, configuration and event management functions. It is generally interconnected through an out-of-band network with various resources.
