The following few simple configurations correspond to my own (ASUSA54JC) Optimization: Intel (R) Core (TM) i3CPUM350@2.27GHz2GMemoryIntel integrated graphics card + NvidiaOptimus as we all know, the graphics card of NvidiaOptimus cannot be enabled in Linux. So we actually use Int.

The following simple configurations correspond to the optimization of my current (ASUS A54JC:

Intel (R) Core (TM) i3 cpu m 350 @ 2.27 GHz
2G Memory

Intel integrated graphics card + Nvidia Optimus

As we all know, Nvidia Optimus graphics cards cannot be enabled in Linux. So we actually use Intel's integrated graphics card. The mounted driver is a xf86-video-intel.

Configuration in system settings:

1. Application appearance-style-fine-tuning:

Set [graphic effect] to [High display resolution, low CPU usage ].

In this way, the image quality will be relatively high (only meaningful for high screen resolution, 1024*768 + OK), with as few CPUs as possible. After setting, the window effects are much smoother. I use the display window to switch the window (Alt + TAB). Under the default [ultra-high CPU usage], the animation obviously lags behind when Alt + TAB is pressed multiple times.

In addition, if the Smooth Tasks taskbar is used, when you point the cursor to a long window title in the window preview, the obvious difference between "low CPU usage" and "high CPU usage" is displayed.

2. Desktop effect-advanced:

The [convert to type] is of course [OpenGL ].

You can set [retain window thumbnails] to [always ]. In this way, the window will not be empty when the window is restored after the window is minimized. Otherwise it will feel strange .. [6688 e-commerce website www.6688.cc]

[Material filtering]. No difference is found.

Choose enable direct rendering and use vertical synchronization ].

When vertical synchronization is used, the visual effect of scrolling up and down Firefox pages is better.

In addition, we also set the drawing mode of Qt. You can change it to Raster. The CPU usage decreases, but the memory usage increases. I did not test.

For more information about how to change the value, see the following section, reference from A Lighter, Faster (?) Plasma:

You don't really need the config module to test different graphics backend (provided you have qt 4.7, that supports setting the graphicssystem via environment variable ).

For example, to test the raster backend, just create a file ~ /. Kde/env/qt-graphicssystem.sh (although the name shouldn't really matter) with the contents:
Export QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM = raster
And relog into kde.

If you need further acceleration (see my current KUbuntu 10.10 Optimizer)

1. Disable the mode effect and translucent effect in the desktop effect.
2. Install the Qt graphics system setting component and change the Qt drawing mode from the preset XRender to Raster.
3. Modify the appearance of the window decoration and set the window border to no border (the window size will be a little smaller)
4. Unless necessary, use Strigi Content Indexing Service.

Although it is still not as smooth as the OpenGL graphics backend after this setting, it has greatly improved compared with the previous setting.

Note: Strigi is good for me. Because there are a lot of pdf papers in this book, it is very convenient to search according to the content in Dolphi.
