1. First, we will extract the downloaded Tomcat server to any directory. the version I used here is Apache-Tomcat-5.5.23, and decompress it to the E: \ disk root directory.
2. Then we need to configure the Tomcat environment variables. We need to configure two variables:
Configuration: Right-click on my computer ---> properties ---> advanced ---> environment variable
You can add them to user variables or system variables. Add it to user variables here.
1> Add java_home
The variable value here is the JDK installation path. Note that the path here is the root directory.
Add to Environment Variable
2> Add catalina_home to the root directory.
3. Enter the bin directory of Tomcat from the command prompt and open startup. bat. (In fact, it can be opened directly)
As shown in the following figure, the instance is successfully started.
4. enter http: // localhost: 8080 in the browser (the default port is 8080, and check whether the port is occupied before it is started) if the following page is displayed, the configuration is successful. Because the Tomcat server uses port 8080 by default, CONF/server in the root directory of the server can be used. modify the port number in XML. For example, you do not need to specify the port number when you log on to port 80 of HTTP.
