Configure the ASP development environment in Windows 2000

Using ASP (Active Server Page) to compile personal webpages has become a dream of more and more personal website authors. ASP is a web scripting language. Its most important feature is database-driven and dynamic interaction. The introduction of ASP will give your personal website strong data exchange and dynamic interaction capabilities.
Turn your PC into a personal Web server
Many friends may think this is an incredible thing, but it is not difficult to do it. I will take Windows 2000 professional as an example to illustrate the implementation method.
In Windows 2000 Professional, a useful Web application development component IIS-Internet Information Service (Internet Information Service) is integrated. Its version is 5.0. Compared with earlier versions, the running speed and security are greatly improved. Windows 2000 with Internet information services is one of the easiest ways to share information on the Web and run powerful applications. IIS includes the World Wide Web server, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server, SMTP virtual server, ASP, Personal Web Manager, and other functional components.
Once IIS is installed, your PC becomes a Web server. The IIS installation method is very simple. You can perform the following steps: "Start"> "control panel"> "add/delete programs"> "add/delete Windows components ", then, in the "components" list dialog box, select "Internet information service", "management and monitoring tools", and "Script Debugger", and click "OK" in the Windows component dialog box, windows 2000 Professional will automatically start installation and configuration of IIS.
After IIS is installed, you will find three more icons in the "management tools" on the control panel, they are "Internet service manager", "Personal Web Server" (Personal Web Server), and "Server Externsions ". They allow you to manage and control your personal Web servers.
· Set the IP address of a personal Web server
Double-click the Internet Service Manager icon to enter the service manager dialog box. You will see the default FTP site, default Web site, and a default SMTP virtual server under the Computer identifier.
Select a Web site, right-click it, select "properties" from the pop-up menu, enter the properties dialog box, select the "Web site" option, and click the "IP address" drop-down box, select 127.0.0.1 as the IP address of the Web site. In this way, you can access the Web site on the local machine by typing "http: // LocalHost/" or "http: // 127.0.0.1/" in the IE browser.
· Set Personal Web manager shortcuts
Double-click the "Personal Web Server" icon. The dialog box shown in Figure 1 shows the information about your Web Server.

Figure 1 shows the physical storage location of the Web site as the C: InetpubWWWRoot directory on the machine, and its activity status is start (meaning accessible ), the monitoring information related to the current Web site is displayed.
