Article Title: connect to the MicrosoftVPN server on Ubuntu8.10. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.

The company uses VPN connection to use the company's things. It has never been able to connect on Ubuntu at home. It's hard to solve it today. Record the process. Translate an article from a foreigner.

In fact, it is very easy to connect to Microsoft vpn from linux, but there are some problems with Ubuntu settings. You need to use the following method to modify this problem. Before you start the installation, you must install the pptp graphics software (I only use Ubuntu for xp and use less commands, huh, huh)

# Sudo apt-get install network-manager-gnome network-manager-pptp

# Sudo NetworkManager restart

Start configuring the Network Manager

Network Manager, click the Network icon in the upper-right corner, select "VPN connection"-> "Configure VPN", and then it will ask you about user passwords, Gateway addresses, and other information, note: You must install the previous network-manager-pptp.

Now you need to know some basic information about your VPN network... if you do not know .. Don't ask me ....

● Connection name: this can be used at will. You just need to write something useful. This will basically not affect your connection process.
● Gateway: the ip address and domain name of your company's vpn Server are both in line.
● User name: if the company is domain, the basic input is domain Name \ User, such as EXAMPLE \ usernamel. In the domain environment, it seems that this is necessary.
● Password: Do not enter it first. You will be prompted later.
As follows:

Click the "Advanced" button. In the displayed interface, select Use Point-to-Point encryption (MPPE). Do not modify other options.

Click the "OK" button. After setting the settings in the vpn interface, you can turn off the interface.
