1. Place the optical disc to the optical drive and attach the optical drive:

# Mount/dev/hdc/mnt/cdrom

Or:

# Mount/dev/hdc/media/cdrom

Mount: block device/dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only

If the local machine has an iso file, you can upload the iso file to the server and then execute:

# Mount-o loop rhel-server-5.4-i386-dvd.iso/media/cdrom

2. Set the yum source and add a file under the/etc/yum. repos. d directory. The file content is as follows:

# Vi dvd. repo

[Dvd]

Name = install dvd

Baseurl = file: // media/cdrom/Server

Enabled = 1

Gpgcheck = 0

3. Clear old records and generate a new warehouse

# Yum clean all

Loading "rhnplugin" plugin

Loading "security" plugin

Cleaning up Everything

# Yum list

Now, the local repository is created.
