I. preparations

1. iso files downloaded from debian official website (debian-6.0.7-i386-DVD-1.iso)

2. download vmlinuzand initrd.gz files from the Debian official image. Http://ftp.cn.debian.org/debian/dists/Debian6.0.7/main/installer-i386/current/images/hd-media/
Download all files under this directory and copy them to the C root directory. Do not copy data directly from the debian iso file.

3. Grub4dos (grub4dos-0.4.4-2)

4. hard disk arrangement (160 GB in total ):

1) (hd0, 0): NTFS file system, where the windows system is located, that is, C: \, 60 GB in total. (My XP system only occupies one disk)

2) (hd0, 1): ext2 hard disk, a total of 10 GB (only the debian iso file can be stored), used to store debian iso files, debian cannot be installed because it is stored in an NTFS hard disk. (The FAT32 hard disk may also work. I have never tried it ).

3) the remaining hard disk space is used for debian installation.

5. (optional) ext2fsd: used to read and write an ext2 hard disk in windows.

2. pre-installation settings

1. copy the debian iso file to the 10 GB ext2 hard disk;

2. decompress grub4dos and copy grldr and menu. lst to the C root directory;

3. set the system folder options to make all the hidden files visible. find the hidden file "boot. ini, modify properties, cancel "read-only", open the file, and add "c: \ grldr = install
Debian ", save, and exit;

4. modify the menu. lst attribute that has just been copied to the C root directory, cancel "read-only", open this file, and delete all contents in it.

5. add the following content to the menu. lst file:
