First, my operating system is Debian Linux, and Debian uses the Xfce desktop environment. yesterday I used the command apt-getinstallgnome. after installing a bunch of software and restarting it, I cannot access the graphic interface, you can only enter the character interface. today is a great day. I checked the information on the Internet in the morning. I may summarize a few items. 1. enter the command startx on the character interface.

First, my operating system is Debian Linux, and Debian uses the Xfce desktop environment. yesterday I used the command apt-get installgnome, installed a bunch of software, and restarted, you can't access the graphic interface. you can only access the character interface. it's so easy today.

I may have summarized some information on the Internet in the morning.

1. enter the startx command on the character interface.

2. modify the default init level. change the location of the file to/etc/inittab and set default to 5.

Init 5 is to enter the interface init 0: Stop (never set initdefault to 0)
Init 1: Single-user mode
Init 2:-multi-user, no NFS
Init 3: full multi-user mode (standard running level)
Init 4: useless
Init 5: X11 (xwindow)
Init 6: Restart (do not set initdefault to 6)

3. enter the xinit command.

4. install xdm or the table management system (I found that xdm exists on my computer, but it is still useless to install the table management system (GMS)

I had a hard time trying to solve the problem.

So I posted a post on the internet for help. a friend replied that I should check the error description after startx, which is very reasonable. why don't I know how to start from here first, it seems that this is a problem of learning methods and habits.

So I observed that there was an error: can not open input device dev/psaux

This is a mouse problem. I didn't find any file. At first I thought that copying the file from another machine may solve the problem (I found that the USB flash drive cannot be copied well ), and then it is sent to dev /. this file exists in static/dev/, so it is copied to the/dev/Directory. after restart, the problem persists, at this time, I found that the psaux file I just copied is no longer available. (I asked my senior brother to know that the dev file cannot be copied directly. it is related to other parties. why, I still don't quite understand. I will study it later ).

Later I used the command dpkg-reconfigurexserver-xfree86 configuration for a mouse interface (in the past is psaux), although can enter the graphical interface, but the mouse can not be used, and then I changed back

After a long time, I finally switched to a usb mouse. I used to use the ps2 mouse, so that I could enter the graphic interface. But I don't understand why the ps2 mouse cannot be supported after apt-getinstall gnome. It seems that you have to think about it later.

There are still some twists and turns in the middle.

Little Experience: configuration command (good) dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 base-config
