1. view the current system version
Run uname-

2.6.18-6-686 indicates the kernel version.
2. Search for installable versions
Run apt-cache search linux bigmem

3. Switch to the root permission for Installation
Find the corresponding version of the installation package
Execute aptitude install linux-image-2.6.18-6-686-bigmem
4. Add the new kernel to the boot menu
Execute update-grub

Execute reboot
