Debian x-window installation record

Debian's x-window installation record-Linux Release Technology-Debian information. The following is a detailed description. After debian is installed via network or hard disk. If you do not select to install the desktop in base-config, you cannot log on to X. The procedure for installing x-window is as follows:

Step 1: Set the apt source. The following sources are recommended:

Deb http://debian.cn99.com/debian/ sid main contrib non-free

If you want to install a player such as mmplay, you can add

Deb http://debian.okey.net/debian-uo/ sid java marillat rareware misc

Add the above sources to/etc/apt/sources. list.

Step 2: Install the packages supported by x-window

Apt-get-y install xbase-clients
Apt-get-y install x-window-system-core
Apt-get-y install xserver-xfree86
Apt-get-y install fvwm2
Apt-get-y install menu
Apt-get-y install gnome-core (gnome installation, using gnome as the Window Manager)
Apt-get-y install TPD
Apt-get-y install xscreensaver-gnome
Apt-get-y install mozilla-firefox (Browser installation)
Dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 (Reconfiguration)

To some basic x-window installation is complete. You can use the startx command to open X. If the installation of X-window is completed, garbled characters may occur. The main reason is that the Chinese support configuration is not completed yet. If you try startx to enter X, a "volume error" error is reported. Please install apt-get install alsa-base, apt-get install alsa-utils again

Step 3: Install Chinese

Dpkg-I ttf-fireflysung_1.0.0-1_i386.deb

Basically, Chinese language installation is complete. If Chinese characters cannot be displayed after the font is installed. Go to/etc/fonts/to modify the local. conf file. Change it:
