5. Configure the IP address, route, name server (DNS), and so on. If your route supports DHCP, skip this step.

6. Do not select automatic when partitioning, but select manual. For example, if I use the MS Windows XP system as the drive C, I need to store tools and files on the drive D. Allocate all the rest to debian. My partition scheme is

/10 Gb system root partition, equivalent to system partition in MS Windows
Swap 2G swap partition, equivalent to the virtual memory in MS Windows
/Home 15G home directory, equivalent to Documents and Settings in MS Windows
/Var: The remaining hard disk space is about 25 GB. I will use it to install emails on the email server in the future.
