For older users who use computers for longer periods of time, it is inevitable to friends or colleagues to help maintain and repair the computer, and sometimes to help people buy a PC, then we will certainly bring hardware testing software, but, who also can not always carry these software, if the right to do not have the appropriate testing software to do? You don't know anything about that, do you? So your master image will be greatly damaged, in fact, leaving the software we can clearly look at the configuration of computer hardware. Let's go and study together.
First, check the hardware configuration in post
Machine assembly After the end, even if not installed operating system can also be tested, in the post screen hidden hardware configuration of the simple introduction yo (due to the boot screen flashed over, want to see clearly, remember to hand in time to hold "PAUSE" key).
1. Graphics information
The first hardware that is checked at post is the video card, so a few lines of text that appear in the upper left corner of the screen after starting the machine are the "profile" descriptions of the video card. In four lines of text, the first line "geforce4mx440 ..." indicates that the display core of the video card is geforce4mx440, supports agp8x technology, and the second line "version ..." indicates the version of the graphics card bios, we can "squeeze" the BIOS version by updating the graphics card. Graphics performance, of course, after the update of this line of text will also change, the third line "Copyright (C) ..." is the manufacturer's copyright information, indicating the display chip manufacturers and manufacturers of copyright years; the Forth line "64.0MBRAM" indicates the video card memory capacity.
2.CPU and hard disk, memory, optical drive information
After displaying the basic information of the video card, the second self-test screen appears with more hardware information, such as CPU model, frequency, memory capacity, hard disk and optical drive information, etc. will appear in this screen. The top two lines of text of the screen indicate the BIOS version of the motherboard and the copyright information of the BIOS manufacturer; The following text is understood, of course, the motherboard chipset, and the next few lines of text indicate the CPU frequency and memory capacity, speed. Oh, I this CPU and memory is overclocking use, so the frequency is not too regular yo; The following four lines "IDE ..." indicate the devices attached to the IDE's master-slave interface, including the hard disk model and the CD-ROM model, and so on.
3. Motherboard information
A line of information about the motherboard appears at the bottom of the second self-test, with the previous date showing the current motherboard's BIOS update date, followed by the code used by the motherboard, which allows us to understand the motherboard's chipset model and manufacturer. In the past the old motherboard self-test screen in the middle of the bottom of the text is marked with the motherboard chipset, this board is referred to the self-test screen above.
After the machine started press "DEL" key to enter the BIOS Setup page, in the basic information can also see the machine hardware information, and the boot screen shows no difference.
Second, use Device Manager to view hardware configuration
After you enter the operating system, you can also use Device Manager to view the hardware configuration with the DirectX Diagnostics Tool when you install the hardware driver. Let's see how you can use Device Manager to view hardware information. On the desktop, right-click on the "My Computer" icon, select "Properties" from the menu that appears, open the System Properties window, click "Hardware-Device Manager" and display all hardware devices configured in the Device Manager. From top to bottom in order the CD-ROM drive, disk controller chip, CPU, disk drive, monitor, keyboard, voice and video information, and the lower is the display card. To find out what kind of hardware information, just click the "+" in front of it to expand the content below it.
In addition to the use of Device Manager to see the general hardware information, you can further understand the motherboard chip, sound card and hard disk working mode and so on. To remind you for example, to view the working mode of the hard disk, just double-click the appropriate IDE channel to eject the Properties window, in the Properties window you can see the hard drive device type and transfer mode. These are not available on the boot screen.
It should be noted that the Device Manager provided in the operating system prior to Windows XP is not available to see the CPU operating frequency, but we also have the DirectX Diagnostics tool.
Iii. using the DirectX Diagnostics tool to view hardware configuration
The DirectX Diagnostics tool helps us to test, diagnose, and modify hardware work, but we can also use it to view the hardware configuration of the machine. Run the System Information window and locate the Tool--DIRECTX Diagnostics tool (or run Dxdiag.exe in the System32 directory under the Windows directory in the installation disk) to easily view hardware information in a window.
1. View basic information
Click the System tab in the DirectX Diagnostics Tool window for the current date, computer name, operating system, system manufacturer and BIOS version, CPU processor frequency, and memory capacity at a glance. Note that although I will celeron2.0mhz overclocking to 2.40MHz use, but DirectX does not recognize this account, still shows the original frequency of not overclocking. It seems that there is no AIDA32, we can also identify the * Business will be overclocking CPU to sell us!
2. View video card information
In the DirectX Diagnostics Tool window, click the Display tab, where we can see the video card manufacturer, display chip type, video memory capacity, graphics driver version, monitor and other general information.
3. View audio Information
Audio devices are often overlooked, but without it, click the Sound tab to learn more about it! The name of the device, the manufacturer and its driver, and so on, can be seen in the window that appears. The difference is that we can also click on the lower right corner of the "Test DirectSound (T)" to the sound card for a simple test
