The hard link is no different from the original file and shares an inode number (the unique identifier of the file on the file system). The soft link does not share inode, it can also be said to be a special inode, so it is different from the original inode.

If the original file is deleted, the soft connection cannot be accessed, while the hard connection is.

Because of the symbolic link feature, it can span disk partitions, but hard links do not.
