Vi. Cross-Region volume

A spanned volume is a logical volume that consists of several unallocated spaces that are located on different disks. That is, users can combine unallocated space in several disks into a spanned volume, assigning a common drive, which may make more efficient use of space.

User can select 2-32 disks;

The capacity of each disk can be different;

Can not include system volume and active volume;

When the system stores the data, it is stored in the first disk of its members, and the second disk is used after the space is exhausted, and so on;

Cross-zone volumes do not improve the efficiency of disk access;

Spanned volumes do not have fault tolerance, that is, when a disk fails, the data in the entire volume is lost;

A spanned volume cannot be a member of a mirrored volume, striped volume, or RAID5 volume;

Only volumes formatted as NTFS have the ability to extend the volume;

The entire spanned volume is considered one, and the user cannot use any of the members independently, unless the entire span is first removed.

1. Establish a cross-region volume

For example, in space on disk 1, create a spanned volume

(because a spanned volume requires a minimum of two disks, a new disk size of 12G is added to the virtual machine before the operation)

When you extend a volume, you can extend it for a disk or for multiple disks (members).

4. Deleting a volume

When you delete a spanned volume, the original volume's constituent space becomes unpartitioned space.

Seven, band volume

A striped volume is also a logical volume that is composed of unallocated space on different disks.

1, each member of the volume, the size of its capacity is the same;

2, the member of the volume, cannot contain the system volume and the active volume;

3. When the system stores data into striped volumes, it divides the data into 64KB bands, such as a striped volume consisting of 3 disks, which splits the data into a group of 3 64KB, each time a set of data is written to 3 members, until all data is written to disk. In this way, the efficiency of writing is improved;

4. The striped volume does not have fault tolerance function. If a disk fails, the data of the entire striped volume will be lost;

5, can not expand the establishment of the band-zone volume, unless the reconstruction after deletion;

6. You can make a striped volume by selecting unallocated space in the 2-32 disks, respectively. Note You must have at least two disks to select unallocated partitions (you can select multiple unallocated space in one disk, but the total space must be the same size as the other disks). These disks are best for the same manufacturer and the same model.

2. Deleting a volume

When you delete a volume, the composition space of the original volume becomes unallocated space.
