Domestic ADSL Wireless route Internet access + VMware Internet access

At home, I want to connect to the Internet through the ADSL Wireless route. I want to connect VMware to the Internet, so that I can easily communicate with the outside world and send emails.

1. access the Internet through NAT. Set the vmnet8 IP address of the host (Windows XP):

192. 168. 0. 1. Set subnet to 255. 255. 255. 0

2. Remember to put VMware in the vmnet8 Protocol

Choose bridge protool.

3. Select vmnet8 in the network settings of VMware and use NAT.

4. Then, in vmnet0, select the wireless Nic

5. In the VM, set the IP address to 192. 168. 0. 2, Subnet

255. 255. 255. 0, the gateway is 192. 168. 0. 1. DNS is the DNS for accessing the Internet from the host.

Appendix: Other three Connection Methods:

First case:

The host uses pppoe for dial-up Internet access

Method 1: Nat

1. First shut down the operating system in the VM and return to the VM's main interface

Double-click "Ethernet" in the upper-right corner of the main interface. The "network adapter" dialog box is displayed. Select "Nat"

2. Start the virtual machine operating system and set the IP address to dynamic retrieval, which is obtained through DHCP.

In this case, the operating system in the virtual machine uses the IP address of the host. If the host can access the Internet, the virtual machine can also.

Supplement:

Use vmnet8. After installation, select the NAT mode and use ipconfig on the win host to view the IP address of vmnet8,

Generally, it is 192.168.x.1/255.255.255.0. At this time, vmnet8 should be set to automatically obtain the IP address. Now it is changed to a static IP address, and the IP address is directly entered in vmnet8 without a gateway.

At the same time, check vmnet8 In the NAT item in the VM network settings (VMware network setting tool in the host), which is generally 192.168.x.2/255.255.255.0 ...... the address is vmnet8, the NAT gateway.

Now, in Linux, set the nic ip address to the IP address (192.168.x.z/255.255.255.0) of the vmnet8 network segment, and set the gateway to the IP address 192.168.x. 2 you just viewed.

Method 2: Host-only

1. First shut down the operating system in the VM and return to the VM's main interface

Double-click "Ethernet" in the upper-right corner of the main interface. The "network adapter" dialog box is displayed. Select "Host-only"

2. Right-click the dial-up Internet connection, open the pppoe connection attribute, select "advanced", and select "allow other network users to connect through the Internet connection of this computer"

In the home network drop-down box, select VMware network adapter vmnet1"

The IP address of the VMware network adapter vmnet1 virtual Nic is automatically changed to 192.168.0.1.

Ping 192.168.0.1.

3. Go to VMware and start the Linux operating system.

Use netconfig command

Set the IP address to 192.168.0.2 (in the same network segment as the virtual network card)

The gateway is 192.168.0.1, that is, the IP address of the VMware network adapter vmnet1 virtual Nic.

Set DNS to ISP, for example, 61.147.37.1

4. Restart the network:

# Service network restart

In this case, the system of the virtual machine can access the Internet after the host dials the internet, and no more dialing is required.

Method 3: Bridge

In this way, the virtual machine is the closest to a real machine.

1. First shut down the operating system in the VM and return to the VM's main interface

Double-click "Ethernet" in the upper-right corner of the main interface. The "network adapter" dialog box is displayed. Select "bridge"

2. Install proxy servers such as Sygate or WinGate on the host

3. Set the proxy server of the virtual machine to the IP address of the host machine.

Case 2:

Within the LAN

Select "bridge" for "Ethernet"

In this way, the virtual machine is the same as a real machine. In this case, set the IP address to another available IP address in the LAN.

Gateway: Address of the LAN gateway server (or router address)

DNS: set as the DNS server address of the ISP
