A Nested Template is actually a Template created based on another Template. To create a nested template, you must first save the basic template, then use the basic template to create a new document, and then save the document as a template. In the new template, you can further define the editable area defined in the basic template.

In a single site, for pages with many shared design elements but few changes, the use of nested templates for design is conducive to the control, update and maintenance of page content. A basic template usually has a wide design area and can be used for designing multiple types of content. In a nested template, you can further define the editable area inherited from the basic template for some pages on the site. The editable area inherited from the basic template can still be edited, unless you insert a new template area (such as the editable area, optional area, or repeated area) in these editable areas ). Modifying a basic template automatically updates all the webpage documents created based on the basic template and its nested templates.

To create a nested template, follow these steps:

1. Create a template as the basic template according to the general method of creating a template, as shown in the following figure.

In this example, two editable zone bodies and footer are created in the basic template. Insert a table with one row and two columns in the editable area of the body to locate the page element. Insert a table with one row and one column in the footer editable area.

2. select File> Save as Template (File> Save as Template) or select the templates tag in the Insert panel, and click Make Nested Template (create Nested Template) in the panel, save the newly created document as a nested template.

3. Add new content and editable area in the new template to further define the editable area inherited from the basic template. In this example, an image is inserted into the table in the editable area of the body, and a new editable area other is inserted in column 2nd.

When a new editable area is inserted in the inherited editable area, the original editable area turns orange, indicating that the area has become locked and cannot be edited.

4. Save the nested template.

5. Select a nested template to create a new webpage document. In the new document, you can edit the content of the editable footer inherited from the basic template and the content of the editable other defined in the nested template.

The body editable area in the basic template has become a lock area in the nested template and cannot be edited, so it is not displayed.
