Many of my friends have the experience of downloading favorite movies, music, and software using the plug-ins (such as Emule) on Windows. In Ubuntu, the open-source "plug-in" software Amule allows us to easily download online resources. In Ubuntu 8.10, you only need to install, configure, and use Amule in a few steps. Let's take a look.
Step 1: Install Amule
The Amule software is not installed in Ubuntu by default. We can use the apt-get command or the new package manager to install it. If you use the apt-get command, locate the terminal item under "application"> "attachment" and click this item to open a GNOME terminal window, enter the following command in the window:
Sudo apt-get install amule-utils
After the command is executed, the Amule software is automatically downloaded and installed online. The current version of the downloaded Amule software is 2.2.2. In addition, we can download the latest software package from Amule's official website www.amule.org. After the software is installed, go to "application"> "Internet" to find the "Amule" option. Click this option to run the Amule program.

Step 2: Configure Amule
After the Amule software is installed, when you run the Amule program for the first time, the program prompts whether to download the server list. If we click "yes", Amule will automatically download the server list file. After entering the main Amule window, click "Connect" at the top of the window to download online resources using Amule. However, to allow Amule to smoothly download online resources, we can manually add some server list files or Kad node files. In addition, you must manually establish the association between the Firefox browser and the Amule program.
1. Download The ed2k server list file
Click the "network" button at the top of the Amule window. On the "ED2K" tab, manually add the following link:
2. Add the Kad node File
On the "Kad" tab, manually add the following link:
3. Associate Firefox with Amule
Because the Amule program is not automatically associated with Firefox, if you want to click the download resource link in Firefox, the download task is automatically added to the download task list of Amule, you have to manually configure Firefox.
Run the Firefox browser and enter the command "about: config" in the address bar. Enter the command and press Enter. the Firefox configuration options are listed in the window below the address bar. Right-click and choose "New"> "Boolean" from the shortcut menu to create a Boolean item, in the displayed dialog box, enter "network" in the "Enter preference name" column. protocol-handler.external.ed2k, select the value true in the pop-up dialog box that appears ". Create a Boolean item with the preference name "network. protocol-handler.expose.ed2k" and the value "false ". Create a new String (String) item with the preference name "network. protocol-handler.app.ed2k" and set the value to "/usr/bin/ed2k ". After setting, restart the Firefox browser.
