The syntax of a Find function

Find (Find_text,within_text,start_num)

Find_text is the text you want to find.

Within_text is the text that contains the text you want to find.

START_NUM Specifies the character to start the lookup. The first character in Within_text is a character numbered 1. If start_num is omitted, it is assumed to be 1.

Use Start_num to skip a specified number of characters. For example, suppose you use a text string "AYF0093." Youngmensapparel ", if you want to find the number of the first" Y "in the description section of the text string, you can set the start_num to 8 so that the serial number portion of the text is not found. Find will look up from the 8th character and find find_text at the next character, and return number 9. Find always returns the character number from the beginning of the within_text, and if start_num is greater than 1, the skipped characters are counted.

If find_text is empty text (""), then find returns a value of 1.

Wildcard characters cannot be included in find_text.

If there is no find_text in the within_text, find returns the error value #VALUE!.

If the start_num is not greater than 0, find returns the error value #VALUE!.

If the start_num is greater than the length of the within_text, find returns the error value #VALUE!.

Function: Find is used to locate a string in the original data to determine its location. Because the function is positioned, it always starts at the specified position, returning the position of the first matching string found, regardless of whether a matching string is followed.
