Start the Telnet service manually:
* Type net start telnet at the command prompt.
* Click Start, point to program, point to management tool, and then click Telnet Server Management. Type 4 at the command prompt to start the Telnet service.
* Click Start, point to program, point to Administrative Tools, click Services, right-click Telnet service, and then click Start.
* Click Start, point to program, point to Administrative Tools, click Services, right-click Telnet service, click Properties, and then click Start.
Automatically Start the Telnet Service
To enable the Telnet service, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, point to program, point to management tool, and then click Service.
2. Right-click the Telnet service and click Properties.
3. Click Automatic In the start Type box.
4. Click OK.
Note: by default, the server uses NTLM for authentication, which is very troublesome. I cannot enter the account password for many times ..
Just close it. nnd
1. Type tlntadmn.exe in the command prompt and press ENTER.
2. select option 3 to display/change the registry settings.
3. select option 7 and NTLM.
4. Change the default setting from 2 to 0 to disable NTLM.
Then telnet.
