Today I installed the meego system. The main reference and reprinted content from: http://www.linuxidc.com/Linux/2011-06/37661.htm pictures from: http://blog.csdn.net/lanyijia/article/details/6411250

Installation Guide

Required Software

1. meego tablet image file:
Meego-tablet-ia32-pinetrail-1.2.0.90.0.20110517.1.img

2. Kernel Patch: kernel-adaptation-pinetrail-2.6.38.2-8.12.i586.rpm
3. Burning write tool: win32diskimager-RELEASE-0.2-r23-win32.zip

Installation Steps (some steps are directly referenced on the above link page, and then explained by the author)
1.install win32diskimager-release-0.2-r23-win32.zip on windows, then run win32diskimager.exe, write the meego-tablet-ia32-pinetrail-1.2.0.90.0.20110517.1.img into the U disk.

2. Insert the USB flash drive and USB keyboard into the flat panel, start, and press the delete key to enter the BIOS setup interface. Change the default boot disk SATA to USB in boot-> hard disk drivers-> 1st drive. Press F10 to save and exit. (If viewpad10 is used, press F11 to start the disk or USB flash drive without entering the BIOS .)

3. Go to the meego installation page, select installation only, and follow the prompts to install.

You can select the last partition. If the system prompts insufficient partition capacity, select "Remove all partitions on selected drives and create default layout" in the partition option ".

Select write below

After that, the installation is automatically completed all the way down, and then the restart is disabled.

4. After the installation is complete, press delete to go To the BIOS setup page and change 1st drive to Sata.
(Of course, if you choose to start directly from the USB flash drive during installation, you can directly access meego .)

5. After running meego, enter terminal mode (Press CTRL + ALT + F1 or open termial from the main program interface ). Use the root permission, through another U disk (or the U disk format, if you can not format, first fully formatted once, and then quickly formatted once on the line) to the kernel-adaptation-pinetrail-2.6.38.2-8.12.i586.rpm into the/root directory, update kernel image: rpm-IVH -- force/root/kernel-adaptation-pinetrail-2.6.38.2-8.12.i586.rpm.

This step is simple to describe. Here, I will detail each step for your reference.
Since the interface has been locked after you enter the meego system, and the touch screen driver is not installed, it is impossible to enter the terminal in the graphic interface. Therefore, we need to enter shell before entering the GUI. Method: Press CTRL + ALT + F1.

Then the system will prompt you to enter the user name and password
Login: Root
// Access as root
Password: meego

Next, I will write down the instructions in each step for your reference.
[Root @ localhost] # fdisk-l // view the hard disk status of the computer
(The Hard Disk Data on the tablet will pop out on the screen.
For example:/dev/sda1
/Dev/sda2
......
/Dev/sdb4, etc.
The purpose of this step is to find which USB flash drive is inserted.
In theory, the USB flash disk starts with/dev/SDB, followed by a number, and the number depends on the specific circumstances of your computer. At this time, you need to find and remember which USB flash disk is your .)

[Root @ localhost] # mkdir/mnt/USB/
// Create the USB directory under the MNT directory

[Root @ localhost] # Mount-T vfat/dev/sdb4/mnt/USB/
// Mount the USB flash drive to the directory you just created.
(Note: 1. This step applies to a USB flash drive in the format of FAT32. If it is not the format, you 'd better change the USB flash drive to fat32. 2. The Mount-T vfat command should keep up with the drive letter of your USB flash drive.
Keep up with/mnt/USB/my tablet, Which is/dev/sdb4. Each user needs to enter the corresponding Command Based on the drive letter found in the above step .)

[Root @ localhost] # cd/mnt/USB
// Enter the USB flash drive

[Root @ localhost] # dir
// The files in the USB flash drive will be displayed on the screen.

[Root @ localhost] # cp kernel-adaptation-pinetrail-2.6.38.2-8.12.i586.rpm/root/
// Copy the driver file to the/root/directory

[Root @ localhost] # rpm-IVH -- force/root/kernel-adaptation-pinetrail-2.6.38.2-8.12.i586.rpm

// Update the kernel Image

6. After CTRL + ALT + DEL is restarted, it will work normally.
