Effects second, the use of effect column

After you add a variety of effects to a drawing object, you'll find that the effect bar in the object's property box lists all the effects one by one that the object uses. As shown in Figure 31, the Ellipse object is added with "Inner bevel", "Find Edge" and "add clutter" three effects.

Figure 31
When the effect is added, to modify its related values again, click the Edit Effects button on the left side of the effect, and the settings window for the effect will be launched again. But for some special effects that have no relevant numerical value to set, you cannot start the Settings window in this way, as in Figure 31, "further blur" effects. Therefore, the icon for the Edit Effects button on the left side of further blur is light blue.

When we add some special effects to the effect bar, we sometimes need to remove some unwanted effects. At this point, you can select the special effect and click on the "Remove Effects" button directly. If you want to completely remove all effects from the effect bar, you can click the Add Effect button menu and choose None, which means no effects are used.

And sometimes we need to suspend the function of a special effect because of the influence of the special effects on the graphics, and then just cancel the check on the effect name. The "Add clutter" effect in Figure 31 is suspended. Re-click the Red Fork in front of the effect to re-enable the effect. To suspend all effects in the effect bar, click the Add Effect button, and then select option-All off from the pop-up menu. When you select Options-All on, you can re-enable all effects in the effect bar.

Not only can an object use multiple effects, but a special effect can be repeatedly added to an object. Note, however, that the effects in the effect bar are arranged by the time before and after the first addition of the special effects on the top, and then the added effects are gradually ranked below. Even if you add the same effects to two identical objects, the effects in the effect column will be different if the effects are arranged differently. As in Figure 32, the two rectangular objects, although using the exact same effect, but because of the different arrangement of effects caused by the difference in appearance.

and reset effect bar in the order of the effects is also very simple, just press the left mouse button on the special effects, and drag it to the desired position after releasing the mouse, as shown in Figure 33.

Save special effects as Styles

We try to select a drawing object and add a style to it in the Styles panel. At this point we can find in the effect bar of the object property box that some special effects are automatically added here. As shown in Figure 34.

Figure 34
From this we can conclude that the style is to use some special effects designed to be saved after the "combination effect." Just using styles will be simpler and more intuitive. So we can also save some graphics objects with various effects in style to the style panel, creating a custom style. The advantage of using a custom style is that when you want to add the same special effects to other graphics objects, you can click the custom style directly. Even if you have other graphics objects to add the same special effects in the future, you do not have to add the desired effects in the effect menu. Because, once a custom style is added to the Styles panel, it will remain there until you delete it manually.

The way to do this is to add the desired effects to a graphic object first, and then click the New Style button in the lower-right corner of the styles panel, and a new Style dialog box pops up. In this dialog box, you can select the related properties of the drawing object to decide whether to add these properties to the new style as well. When you create a new style for a type object, you can choose whether to include the font, font size, and so on that the text object uses in the new style. As shown in Figure 35.

Figure 35
When you click on the OK button, the new style is saved to the Styles panel. As shown in Figure 36.

   Save special effects as Commands

After using a variety of effects for a drawing object, you can save the effects as a style to the styles panel, and save them as a script command for fireworks, kept in the Commands menu. The purpose of this is also to enable other graphics objects to do this by clicking on the commands in the Command menu when they are needed. And this script command is added to the Command menu and will be retained if it is not manually deleted.

The specific way to do this is to first add the desired effects to a drawing object. Then we open the history panel. As you can see, the various effects actions that are added to the object are recorded. Let's hold down the keyboard Shift key and select each of these action records. As shown in Figure 37.

Figure 37
Then click the "Save Command" button in the lower-right corner of the history panel. and enter a name for the command in the dialog box that pops up. As shown in Figure 38.

After clicking the OK button, the command we want is added to the Command menu, as shown in Figure 39.

v. Import a third-party filter

The "special effects" in fireworks are also called special effects plug-ins, which are third party filters. This is the same as the filter concept in Photoshop. For example, the eye Candy 4000 Le entry in the Add Effects button is the filter provided by Alien Skin Company. Not only that, fireworks can also add some of the previous version of the filter, the specific method of operation is as follows: Photoshop6.0

Click the edit-Preferences item in the Fireworks menu bar to eject the Preferences window, as shown in Figure 40.

Figure 40

Click the "Browse" button on the right after you check the "Photoshop plug-ins" tab in the Folder tab of the window. Then select the directory of the Photoshop filter in the Path selection box. As shown in Figure 41.

After adding the required external filters in the Photoshop plug-in folder, restart fireworks for use.

   Summary

Through this chapter of the tutorial, you have a preliminary understanding of the various filters or effects in fireworks. It is also easy to see that some filters are similar or identical in function or application concepts to the filters in Photoshop. Therefore, we can also use the filter function of the two software to learn, so as to deepen the understanding of the function of the filter and application.
