Forget about the internet

I lost my cell phone on a business trip. At that time, my first reaction was not an alarm, but an alarm. How did I get through my life?

Media scholar McLuhan said, "media is an extension of people." However, in my life, smart devices seem to have become a reality. I lost my phone address book. I couldn't contact anyone at half past one, but I had no electronic map. I felt like I was about to get lost in a strange city. I didn't have any recommendation software, I couldn't even answer the "ultimate" Question of "what to eat next meal"; I couldn't find a schedule, I didn't know what to do next, and even got a serious impact on my sleep-yes, the music that goes to bed with me every night, and the stolen mobile phone doesn't know where to go.

At that moment, I suddenly woke up and thought that I had been assigning my daily chores and tasks to digital devices. They were my assistants, but in the end they dominated my consciousness, they became my masters. Such external things have seriously affected my life, but I did not know before.

What's even more shocking is that its dominance may become stronger over time. The network giant Amazon applied for a patent that could use the previous orders and search records in the Amazon account to implement the "advance delivery" service for users-that is, when you are still hesitating to buy something, the network has already listed the list for you. When you are about to click "buy, your goods may have arrived at your door.

Now, the Internet will be smarter than you think, and it will learn to know you, or even eventually understand your mind. It will work out your favorite TV series, and know at what time the pop-up advertisement box will make you unable to stop clicking to buy, it knows the timing of your choice and allows you to accept the games that interest you the most. It can even analyze your social networking relationships and list the closeness between friends.

Later, I interviewed a professor of philosophy who didn't use smart phones. The old gentleman frowned upon these seemingly cool and magical future scenes. He said that the development of technology should have brought us freedom, but it has limited our freedom to a certain extent, and even taught us to escape freedom.

In his view, we indulge in the game and give up our control over time. We are busy with another unfocused online conversation, avoiding deeper exploration of our lives; when we think of a serious life proposition, we feel tired and powerless. So we put down the questions that we have not answered, picked up our cell phone, and stared at the flickering screen, escape from the problems that really need to be looked straight.

There are not a few people with the same idea as the old gentleman, so a group of people appeared on the Internet, trying to quit from the digital life, disappear from the Internet, and face themselves again. They even set up a website called "Web 0. 2. 0 ".

But it is not easy to get out of the world of China Unicom. Your biggest enemy is the Internet itself. Later, the website was blocked because it was too focused on helping users Delete Facebook accounts.

However, I always feel that to solve the problem, it is not necessary to break down with myself in the past, delete my network account, and erase my existing traces. After all, technological advances have helped us a lot. With the help of a big, small-sized smartphone, I can travel to different parts of the world with peace of mind. Even though I can't tell north and south, I can't understand Italian.

During my trip to Rome, I met a small store selling antique stamps. Everywhere, where Wi-Fi is used for payment, a silver-haired grandmother sat quietly behind the desk, wearing a mirror, scissors and envelopes, A copy of the old letterhead. Because I didn't bring any cash, I asked her if she could swipe her card. She squinted at the corners of her eyes. She smiled at me in simple English and said, "No technology (not technical )."

On that day, I disabled the mobile phone navigation and did not search for the nearest atm. The Internet is indeed a massive and dense network. It can answer almost all your questions and help you solve the problem quickly. However, days outside of the Internet are slow, but it is also part of the landscape.

Later, I spent most of the afternoon sitting in a small dilapidated room and eating cookies with my grandmother. Outside the window, a backpacker carrying an iPad while checking the route is walking forward. He seems to be searching for places of interest as recommended, mark the location of his arrival. Therefore, on the same ancient street, you can efficiently and quickly continue to the next landmark, or stop and sit down and think about it. These two travel methods allow them to coexist peacefully.
