What is Nessus?

The family edition is suitable for personal use and can be used in non-professional environments. The Professional edition includes additional features for commercial purposes:

• BotNet/malicious process/anti-virus (AV) Audit
• Integrated Patch Management
• Sensitive Content Audit
• Audit of data collection and monitoring (SCADA) and control systems

Before installing and configuring Nessus, You need to download the Nessus suitable for your operating system. Download it here. As this article describes how to install and configure Nessus on ubuntu, select the linux category and select ubuntu under the linux category. Shows the deb package I downloaded online. You can right-click the deb file and click "open in ubuntu Software Center". Then, click Install in ubuntu Software Center. After installation, We need to configure Nessus and then use it.

Now that you have installed Nessus, run it below. Open a new terminal, you can/Etc/init. d/nessusd start"Run Nessus. Because I use the family edition, I need a valid license for it.

Run the command to start Nessus installation, as shown in figure 2.

Add a user and enter the command, as shown in figure 3.

In the logon prompt box shown in, enter the user name you want to add. After you enter the correct password twice, the user name becomes the administrator. After that, enter"/Etc/init. d/nessusd startRun the "Nessus" command and open it in the browser.Https: // MAID: 8834Log on to Nessus.
