In linux, The gigabyte 945 board does not recognize 4G memory. The problem has been solved-Linux Enterprise Application-Linux server application information. For details, refer to the following. 1. install two packages on the CD:
This step takes some time. After the installation is successful, the 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5-PAE kernel will be generated in/etc/grub. conf, so that a kernel with PAE will be restarted.
Then restart and choose to start the system with the PAE kernel.
2. Run the uname-a command to check whether the pae kernel is installed. Note that the NIC will not be recognized after the system with the PAE kernel is started on the gigabyte board, so we need to re-compile the NIC Driver, before why install kernel-PAE-devel-2.6.18-53.1.14.el5.i686.rpm
The reason for this package is that the NIC driver can be re-compiled. Otherwise, an error will occur. I don't have to say much about how to install the NIC Driver here.
3. Now we can use the top or free commands to check the memory size of the current system. The long-overdue 4G has finally appeared.
4. Check more/etc/grub. conf to see if the system corresponding to default = 0 has a PAE kernel.
