Glow Tutorial Outside of Photoshop layer styles

In this article we will learn about the outer glow options in the Photoshop layer style, which explains the settings and effects of the various options for the glow, and helps PS beginners understand the PS layer style.

Layers with an "outside glow" effect appear as if there is a layer below, this imaginary layer has a slightly larger padding range than the above, but it saves the blending mode "screen" and the default transparency of 75%, resulting in a "glow" effect on the outer edge of the layer.

Because the default blending mode is "screen", if the background layer is set to white, no matter how you adjust the outer glow settings, the effect will not be displayed. To see the outer glow effect on a white background, you must set the blending mode to a value other than screen.

The parameters that can be set on the outer glow include:

Structure

Blending mode (Blend mode)

Opacity (opactity)

Noise (Noise)

gradients and colors (gradient or color)

Pattern

Method (Technique)

Extension (spread)

Sizes (size)

Quality

Contour (Contour)

Range (range)

Jitter (Ditter)

  Blending mode (Blend mode)

The default blending mode is "screen", which says that the outer light-emitting layer is like a layer below the layer, so the blending mode set here will affect the hybrid relationship between the virtual layer and the layer below it. Like what

  Opacity (opactity)

Light is generally not opaque, so this option is set to a value less than 100%. The stronger the light (the more dazzling), the greater the opacity should be set.

Noise (Noise)

Noise is used to add random transparent dots to the light section. The effect of noise is similar to the effect of setting the blending mode to "dissolve", but "dissolve" does not fine-tune, so you want to use "noise" to make a careful effect.

gradients and colors (gradient or color)

The color setting of the outer glow is slightly special, and you can select monochrome or gradient through the radio box. Even if you choose "Monochrome", the effect of the light is also gradual, but only gradual to transparent. If you choose fade Color, you can set the gradient to a random setting.

  Method (Technique)

Method of setting the value of two, respectively, "soft" and "accurate", the general use of "soft" is enough, "accurate" can be used for some light strong objects, or angular reflective effect of more obvious objects. Here is a comparison of the two effects, the former using "soft" and the latter using "precision".
