Remote Desktop provides great convenience for users to work remotely: when users go to work, they want to copy some data from their home computers to their company's computers, if you want to use your company's computer to perform some operations when you return home from work, you can access a remote computer from a local network and log on to the operating system after passing the valid Windows verification. Of course, this requires that the remote computer be enabled and connected to the network.

In addition, you need to make some settings on the remote computer for "Remote Desktop" connection, because Windows does not allow other computers to connect to the local computer through "Remote Desktop" by default. Choose Control Panel> system and maintenance> system> remote settings ", in the remote desktop, select "allow computer connections to run any version of Remote Desktop (not secure)" to connect Windows Vista and earlier versions to Windows Vista through remote desktop. Windows Vista Remote Desktop supports Network-level authentication (NLA) connections. If you are sure that all remote computer systems connected to the local device are Windows Vista, we recommend that you select the "allow only computer connections with remote desktop with network-level authentication (more secure)" option to be safer.

After "Remote Desktop" is enabled, only users in the Administrators administrator user group can remotely log on to the local computer by default. If you want to use another user group for remote logon, click "Select User" and then click "add.

Note: What is network-level authentication? Network-level authentication (NLA) is a new authentication method that completes user authentication before you establish all remote desktop connections and displays a logon screen. This is the safest authentication method, which helps protect remote computers against attacks by hackers or malware. NLA has the following advantages:

At first, less remote computer resources were required. Before the user is verified, the remote computer uses limited resources, instead of starting all remote desktop connections as in previous versions.

You can improve security by reducing Denial of Service attacks (attempting to restrict or block access to the Internet.

Use Remote Computer authentication to help prevent users from connecting to remote computers that are set to malicious purposes.

After the above settings are performed in Windows Vista, the firewall will automatically enable the relevant settings to allow remote desktop access. In Windows XP, you need to set the above settings in the firewall by opening "Control Panel"> "Windows Firewall"> "exception" in turn ", on the "exceptions" option page, select the "file and printer sharing" option, and click "OK" to complete firewall settings. If a third-party firewall is used on the computer, you need to manually add a rule to open the TCP port 3389 of the local computer.

If the remote computer has been set up, you can use "Remote Desktop" to connect. Click Start> All Programs> attachments> Remote Desktop Connection, and then enter the computer name or IP address of the remote computer in the computer input box, click Connect.

If the remote computer is a system earlier than Windows Vista (such as Windows XP), or the computer is configured to only support the RDP security layer, a warning window of 3 is displayed during connection. If you confirm that the connection is true, click "yes" to confirm the connection.

The logon window is displayed. Enter the username and password to log on. 4. In the Remote Desktop Connection window, you can control remote computers as locally.

In addition to using the default settings for "Remote Desktop" connection, we can also configure according to the actual situation and needs. On the "Remote Desktop Connection" page, click the "options" button. The "option configuration" page of "5" is displayed. On the "General" tab, you can save the connection with a fixed remote computer as a shortcut to facilitate fast connection in the future. On the "display" tab, you can set parameters such as the resolution and color quality of the remote desktop display. If the network speed between the local computer and the remote computer is slow,

Therefore, the resolution and color quality can be reduced to accelerate the display speed. In addition, you can further optimize the network speed on the "experience" tab (which is a BUG in Chinese translation and should be translated as "experience. On the "advanced" tab, you can also set the new security of the new version "Remote Desktop.

Tip: Modify the default listening port of "Remote Desktop": the default listening port of "Remote Desktop" is 3389. However, this causes many insecure factors and is prone to network detection and attacks. In this case, we can solve this problem by modifying the default listening port. The specific method is as follows:

Click the Start Menu, enter regedit, and press enter to open registry editor ".
Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlTerminalServerWinStationsRDP-Tcp in turn"
Find the DOWRD value named "PortNumber" in the right window, double-click the value, and select "decimal" to change the value to the required port, for example, 8787.
Click OK to exit and restart the system.
When using remote desktop for connection, you must add a port number after the computer name or IP address, for example, "windowsxp: 8787" or "192.168.1.5: 8787 ″.
