Google has launched a new system for advertisers: paying for the result.
Google said on Tuesday that it will provide advertisers with a testing system that will only be paid to Google after users take actions after they see the ads, such as purchasing products, subscribing to newsgroups, or agreeing to accept real estate agents, the quotation of the car dealer.
Currently, most Google ad users pay for ads that users click and place on the search page, or pay for ads based on their browser views.
"We are very optimistic about this system attracting advertising users," said Susan Wojcicki, vice president of Google product management ." She believes that this system can also be used for new advertising models for website operators.
In this "pay-as-you-go" system, advertisers can choose the type of pay-as-you-go, such as purchasing products or downloading software.
Many advertisers find this "pay-as-you-go" model attractive because it greatly reduces their risks and does not have to pay for ineffective ad clicks. Paying by effect is actually nothing new, and ValueClick and other marketing companies are already using it.
Paybyperformance also has other advantages: it fundamentally eliminates click fraud.
Although advertisers clearly welcome this model, some analysts have pointed out that website operators are hesitant about it, at least for now.
"For website operators, this increases the complexity of their business," said Mark Mahaney, an analyst at Citibank ." Website operators have limited space for advertising, so they need to maximize revenue. However, the effect-based click mode does not guarantee their income.
Mahaney believes that Google needs to further improve the system.
Google tests currently only target 75 advertisers and 75 website operators. Last summer, Google has tested 30 advertisers and website operators.
