How does a search engine work? -Search engine technology

Generally, search engines bring you 20% to 60% of online businesses. There are more than 1 billion million existing web pages in the world, and they are still growing rapidly. Therefore, it is very necessary for us to understand how they work and how they bring our rankings to the forefront of the search results. For example, if you enter the keywords "music" and "CD" in the AltaVista search engine, the search results will display 1 million related web searches.
If you rank in the top 20, the search engine is of extraordinary significance to you. It can bring you a lot of meaningful access without spending a penny, but your ranking is after 50, does it make sense to you? The searcher cannot see your web page retrieval (though theoretically). Of course, it is impossible to say that they can click to access your web page.
There are currently three types of search engines.
The first type is classification directory. In fact, they are not really search engines. They just classify webpages systematically. You can use some descriptions and keywords to find the directory in which your webpage should appear and register your webpage. If you do not register, your webpage will never appear in any of their directories. They do not use specialized "retrieval software" to regularly search for new sites and pages on the Internet and classify them into databases. Yahoo! is a typical representative of such sub-directories.
The second type is the search engine using "search software". They also have great differences. Based on the complexity of the software, the following are some differences between such search engines.
Retrieve your submitted webpage (not the whole website)
Each word on each page covered by a website
On the Internet, you can jump from one page to another through link all the time to search for new pages.
Submit your webpage address. The retrieval software will automatically access and collect any required content. Each search engine has its own standards, and the sorting of search results varies. Therefore, how you submit your webpage completely affects your ranking. In addition, you rank first today and may not be tomorrow because many search engines frequently change their algorithms.
Another type is meta search engine. They send search requests to multiple search engines at the same time to sort the feedback results of the input query keywords in each search engine. Therefore, to improve the ranking of these search engines, you must register them in all the search engines they are associated with (usually the search engines they involve include OpenText, Lycos, WebCrawler, InfoSeek, excite, AltaVista, Yahoo, HotBot and Einet Galaxy ). Such search engines do not have their own databases, so you do not have to register with them.
