How Enterprises configure complex Cisco Wireless AP

Cisco routers are the leader in the routing industry. Their product quality is still very good. Cisco Wireless AP is also one of Cisco's most important products. Requirement Overview: A Cisco Wireless AP is used to build an enterprise wireless LAN. A user's notebook can log on to the wireless network without adding an AD domain. the user name and password of the domain are used for Logon. SSIDS is hidden, therefore, users cannot select their own SSID. The administrator must configure a wireless network for their notebook. The Administrator will configure different SSID for different users to log on to different VLANs, this allows you to divide network permissions.

Configuration Requirements:

VLAN: Multiple VLANs of a Cisco Wireless AP. The functions are similar to those of switches.

SSID hidden: Yes

Encryption protocol: WPA2

Authentication Protocol: PE Cisco Wireless AP under 801x

RADIUS server: Internet Authentication ServiceIAS in Windows 2003)

User Directory: integration with the enterprise's Microsoft Active Directory

Environment setup:

Cisco Wireless AP: Cisco AIR-AP1231G-A-K9, IOS version: 132) JA

Authentication Server: Windows 2003 Enterprise Server with SP1, installed with the IAS service.

Client: Windows XP with SP2. the Wireless network card is Intel PRO Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter.

Cisco Wireless AP Configuration:

Locate IP Address: Cisco Wireless AP obtains the IP address through DHCP by default. Therefore, if you have a DHCP server in your network, first query the MAC address of the AP, go to the allocated address pool of your DHCP server and find the address obtained by the AP. If there is no DHCP server in your network, connect to the AP through the Console.

Configure IP Address: If you connect to a Cisco Wireless AP through the Console, go to interface BVI1 to configure an IP address for the AP. if you configure an IP address on the web page, go to Express SetUp to configure an IP address for the AP. the default username and password are Cisco. Remember to make them case sensitive.

Configure VLAN:

Enter the Service-VLAN, enter the VLAN and VLAN name, and click Apply to create a VLAN .;

Repeat the preceding actions until you have created multiple VLANs;

Confirm that the switch port connected to the Cisco Wireless AP is configured as Trunk Mode.

Configure the encryption protocol:

Go to Security-Encryption Manager. In Encryption Modes, select Cipher-TKIP.
