Note: ubuntu7.10 requires that the VMware Workstation version be high enough (that is, the VMware-tools version is high enough) to install VMware-tools successfully. V5.5 cannot be used successfully, but V6.0 does. If you have linux. iso of V6.0, replace the original linux. iso.

The following is from VMware WorkstationV6.0 linux. the VMware-tools installation file extracted from iso is compressed into multiple 30 m files by win-rar to facilitate uploading, after downloading and decompressing the package, you can use the FTP tool to place it to the linux system installed on the virtual machine.

(Vmhgfas.tar has been replaced, and the following shared patch operations are not required)

Download V6.0 linux. iso (VMware-tools Installation File extraction)

Vmware-tools-distrib.part1.rar

Vmware-tools-distrib.part2.rar

Solve file sharing problems

Download vmhgfs.tar from vmware tools file sharing in vmware6.0

Vmhgfs.tar has an eof call problem, so every compilation fails. You only need to replace the attachment with vmhgfs.tar under/usr/lib/vmware-tools/modules/source, then run sudo in/usr/bin. /vmware-config-tools.pl, just press enter all the way.

After VMware Tools is installed, the scroll wheel of the VM cannot be used.

Open the terminal and enter:

$ Sudo gedit/etc/X11/xorg. conf

This command enables the system to open the/etc/X11/xorg. conf file with the root permission.

Option "Protocol" "ps/2"

Change

Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"

Restart Ubuntu.
