How to quickly complete router configuration in networking

This requires the network administrator not only to learn more about the network, but also to sum up network maintenance experience. With the continuous development of communication technology, various communication products are constantly updated and applied in different fields. I am also immersed in this situation and have encountered the same problems in network maintenance. This not only requires enhanced learning of network knowledge, but also good at summing up network maintenance experience. The following is my experience in configuring and maintaining different series of routers and switches produced by Intel for the reference of network administrators.

Quick installation

The installation of Intel Express 9000 Series routers is complicated. In my practical work, I have summarized a set of Installation procedures. It is difficult to handle router configuration errors. First, write down the MAC address of the vro configured in the LAN. The MAC address is in the following format: 000080 xxxxxx for later installation.

Then, start hardware installation and connect the five UTP lines to the 10 M bps 10Base-T or aui lan ports of the vro. For vrouters of the 9100, 9200, 9201, and 9300 series, connect the WAN port to the DCE port of the Modem. For 9201 series routers, if PC Card ISDN (PCMCIA) is used, PC Card ISDN must be inserted into wide area network port 1; for 9201, 9300, or 9400 series routers, connect the ISDN port directly with the provided ISDN line; For 9200 and 9201 series routers, such as using asynchronous Modem (PCMCIA ), the asynchronous PC Modem Card must be inserted into the wide area network port 1 and then connected to the telephone line. After the cables are connected, install the software after the power is switched on. Insert the random Intel Device View for Windows network management software into the CD to enter the network management workstation, run Setup, and then start the Intel Device View on the workstation and add a new router.

Then, select Tools> Local Management to log on to Local Management as Administrator. Press and enter the password. By default, no password is required.) Select Configuration...> Setup> Basic to complete Basic Setup and select File> Save. Confirm whether the entered parameters meet the Configuration requirements. If yes, select Configuration...> save to FlashPROM; if you need further Configuration to meet your needs, select Configuration...> setup> Advanced, and further complete the router configuration.

Router configuration fault 1:

If 500 switches are stacked together, the network will become very slow, breaking up the switch stack, and the network will become faster. The root cause of the problem is a defective stack matrix module, stack interface module, or stack table. This type of problem will be solved after the stack module is changed.

Router configuration fault 2:

Sometimes, 500 series switches become very slow, or even slower than 10 m hubs. If you set the vswitch port to 10 M, the network speed will be restored to the desired status of the 10 M switch. However, when the port is set to adaptive or M, the transmission rate will become very low, even far lower than 10 m hub. Check the affected port through the user's console cable or device view. Many "short circuits" are found on the port. This is caused by EMI electromagnetic interference. The main reason is that the equipment room is very close to the power cable or power switch cabinet, while the shielding effect of Power Switch Cabinet is not very good. The solution is to shield the EMI source.

Router configuration fault 3:

A port of the 500 Series Switch slows down, and the entire switch or the entire stack slows down. Check the status of the vswitch through the console and find that the buffer pool of the vswitch is growing very fast, reaching 90% or more. This is why the entire vswitch or the entire stack slows down. Unforeseen environmental interference may also slow down the rate of the switch, because environmental interference will terminate packet forwarding on a port and occupy the buffer pool of the switch. Best Solution: reset the wrong port.
